John linden was not with the co-op when i started 11 yrs ago but most of the lads knew him, on the brs only saw some of the drivers when parked down the road the names don’t ring a bell, on longton i was there in early eighties on a temp contract doing 2 and 3 days a week those names don’t ring a bell either.

Steve

a few more names you may remember from Longton transport . Tony Hayes ,Pete Willis ,Graham Newton, join Lock,Dennis Wood ,Ron Timmis ,Dave Calcott,Roy napper,Graham Clarke, Pat Farell

I remember Bunchie from Comart,I was on Beresfords.I remember Ray Gold too,if it all went off you really wanted him on your side.I also remember Ron who worked around Stoke at that time.He was a giant of a man,he never passed a broken down Brit.(Goldie didn’t either)Phil Coomber was another good guy, sadly passed away young.I also remember Dave, another giant,he got the first B reg Man that Beresford bought.I think Jack Kelly had the lone 111 Scania on the fleet.I had about a year on Beresfords,Arthur Beresford didn’t think highly of me and my card was marked.I had a short spell on BET out of Scholar green and then spent the next 15yrs on Rh Freight in Nottingham. The last international work I did was about 2003 for Sewell out of leeds…

Funny thing after all this talk of Stoke firms.Look what was in last nights “Sentinel”

Jim Stubbs used to work for Berrisfords, and now he works for Fedex/ANC same as myself.
This do is open to wives as well,Jim would like to know by the weekend if anyone wishes to attend,as he has to confirm the numbers to get the size of room he requires.
I asked Jim if we had to turn up in our working gear,ie,leather waistcoats and clogs with your wallet on a chain,to help us recognise one another after all these years.
I said as I was mainly M/E,could I turn up in cut down jeans, flip flops and sunglasses.
Hope to see some of you there.

Hello Jim,I last saw you on the Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry about 12 years ago.I was with my missus and my dad on a cruise I remember you and Geoff from Stobarts feeding my dad on the way down because the food was nutcase expensive.Cheers to you and your family.
