dude, ring them up or email them to get the facts, you’re going round in circles at the moment. and take little notice of most peoples issues with stobarts

Spanky is spot on with all he has said above! Stobart have a good public image of sorts anyway!

They will teach you the correct way as regards Tachograph regs loading hours etc! All the good grounding for a long career either with or away from Stobbies!

As for the wages! I wouldn’t go back because I would get a pay cut from what I used to earn there! :grimacing: HTH Truckulent!

Agreed

thats what i think i will do tbh… least i get the facts as you said… cause i dont mind how good or ■■■■ they are it be nice to just have the chance to do what i want to… and unless i want to take a lone out with the possibilty of a debt over my head. stobarts are offering me the only chance… unless i go green in another way and join the army…

nearly there:
if they take you on why not but if you leave before a certain time they will prob have a clause in your contract stating you owe the x amount

I am quite sure this is no longer legal. I was paid by a former employer to do my class two, I then quit three months later - they weren’t happy but there was nothing they could do and they never tried to claim a penny. I appreciate my situation was a little bit different, but if I were you I would get a legal beagle to go over all the paperwork before you sign anything just to be on the safe side. You could end up working a long time for a company you do not like, I hope that won’t be the case but something to think about.

i was thinking about haveing someone thats good with all the legal side of things to have a look over it first… i can never seem to get my head around it haha… intresting to know about the leaveing and not haveing to pay the money back thing tho… im going to have a proper look into it tomorrow tho and see the ins and outs of it… and i was maybe thinking of approching a few companys around hear and asking them if they got any simular things in place… or maybe if they could meet me half way on the cost of the test… :unamused:

They only take on a certain times of the year think you may have just missed the intake

Also depend how old you are as think there is an age limit on it

You could just be like most of us & save up & pay yourself ( I had to )

Oh & the 2 year experience thing is not new has been around a long time well since the late 70’s that I can remember

It’s probably legal more a case of not worth going to court over.

That’s the rate (£2.60) for under 19s.

well why pay for it when there are certain things in place to help… not that im against paying for it my self but if theres things in place to help why not… its about time the country done something to help its own instead of other… and as for the experiance thing in the 70s then i wouldnt know because i wasnt even a twinkle in my daddys eye then lol :unamused:

but its hard enough for young people to get into the transport industry these days there no need to make it harder…

Indeed it is, and we want to be drivers in it… Madder still!

22 is too old for the Stobart apprenticeship I think, you have to be 18 or 19 I think… I have a few mates who were in it and they featured in the Stobart episode and all have left now because they were sick of it.

No way that some of the lads on the tv episode were 18/19 - some looked old enough to be my dad!

I would take the royal logistics option still get the licence a bit of experiance and money will be better
