I am with everyone just be honest and sorry this time, if your worried about losing the job, just come straight out with it and ask the agency if this is going to affect your work with this company, ask a straight question hopefully get a straight answer
Alan…:
If it ever happens again, apologise for being late on the intercom and see if they will mark you on time.
Also If “Firoz” answers the intercom (he is best described as an asian glaswegian) tell him it was Mudda on da motovay. Blokes a nutter in the nicest possible way.
Asian Glaswegian, and then you feel the need to tell us he’s a nutter.
As has been said, don’t worry about it, always be honest, unless you know you can lie & get away with it
It’s a ridiculous situation though, the agency/company/Tesco have made a major drama out of it all, it’s a fact of life on the congested roads of today, that loads will be late, one car with the back box hanging off on the opposite carriageway can cause a 10mile traffic jam, even more if you add some flashing lights to the mix & that’s you in stop/start traffic for well over an hour, two such situations & even the most proactive route planning will go straight out of the window.
The thing that annoys me about it is the fact that we let it happen, by writing emails explaining our actions etc we give the likes of Tesco so much power, power which they use to push us around, imagine your agency/company calling Tesco & asking them for an email explaining why they still haven’t unloaded a 7am booking at 11am, you can bet your life that their answer will be a politically correct way of saying bollox, it’s a one way street, metephorically Tesco & the rest of the big players are just like schoolyard bullies, they throw their weight around, telling suppliers to do it their way or they’ll go elsewhere & people just do it, too scared to tell em to shove it, too scared to tell them that their HSE rules are not actual HSE regs, but BS that some jumped up ponce with a non job has made up to make himself look clever, half of the crap that drivers put up with day in & day out is all unnecessary, we only have to do it because we’ve let them push us around for too long, I’m not advocating militancy & unions, just a bit of common sense
You think we don’t have power? Well what about if somebody was to invent the cure for cancer? It would be as much use as mudflaps on a tortoise if there were no lorries to collect/deliver the raw materials to the production facility & then haul the finished product out to hospitals/chemists etc…
The solution to unreasonable delays at RDC’s lies fairly and squarely in the hands of the suppliers. If the lorry is not unloaded within one hour of booked time then it is pulled out and has to be rebooked.
A supermarket without products from companies such as Cadbury, Heinz, Kelloggs, Premier Foods is a very empty store and does not make a profit.
Until such time as these manufacturers are no longer willing to pay transport companies to spend hours at RDC’s, then this situation will continue to exist.

100% pure, unadulterated spot on.
