Oh wow advantage training

jUST been watching sky news and it seems some bloke has turned up at advantage HGV /LGV Training in tottenham cour road with petrol cans strapped to him and is a little upset to say the least :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
Am i right in thinking that Advantage is a Broker and could this Be some poor bugger who just wants his money back ā– ā– ? . they just interviewed some girl called abbi who works for them and was one of of 5 hostages who caimes she he was asking for her by name and she did a Shaggy ( regga star) impresion then said IT WASNT ME lol so he le her go

I thought Avantage HGV had gone bust :exclamation:  this guy has got the right hump about somthin :smiling_imp: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

The Telegraph:

ā€œIt was claimed that Green had failed an LGV training course three times and stormed the building to demand his money backā€.

i love it this is great

What goes around, comes around. As for Abby, sheā€™s had plenty of practice in telling lies. I know, Iā€™ve had more than my fair share before we kicked Advantage into touch.

This is an extreme case of what happens when customer service fails.

The more publicity this case gets, the better IMO.

Couldnā€™t happen to a more deserving bunch.

Pete

Well well, people need to realise that you can only treat customers badly for so long.
Got to say I am glad no one was hurt - BUT got to say also that I hope all the theiving, devious, lying scum bags in the industry realise they are not always out of harms reach in their nice London offices(or wherever). Many people will have felt like doing this but resisted the urge - think they should be grateful he want the ultimate revenge.

Just in case anyone has any doubt - NO BLOODY SYMPATHY FOR ADVANTAGE

It was only a matter of time

Its a shame the victim will go to prison

triple-tango:
Its a shame the victim will go to prison

I doubt he will, the Police read TruckNet too.

We could always send past post from Truck.net to the london MET in his defence lol  after all it is evidence as to what a bunch of scammers they are well from what i saw live on sky they will be neading new computers at the very least  lol Peter Did you see the tv Interview with that Abby ha she didnt even look shaken she got out and left her staff there to face the music ā€¦I still think she should change her name to Shaggy Abby (IT WASNT ME) ha the sad thing is that poor bloke is gonna have a criminal record at least now eh ā€¦and he cant say IT WASNT ME like them scum .

It remains to be seen whether the person responsible for the situation in London goes to prison. He will almost certainly be subjected to psychiatric evaluation before sentencing, but the charge sheet is going to contain some fairly serious charges considering the amount of property damage, economic consequences for third parties and, most importantly, the actual or perceived threat to life. He probably has little alternative to a guilty plea considering the weight of evidence against him. His frustration and the public interest are not absolute defences, though they could be introduced in mitigation at sentencing.

I suspect it is most likely he will be handled along a psychiatric route, at least initially. However upset he was, in essence this is a dispute between a business and a customer, and the way he chose to handle it appears very disproportionate. Indeed, his behaviour in this affair suggests that it might be appropriate to call him before the Traffic Commissioner to determine his suitability to hold any form of vocational driving licence - even provisional category C.

If what I read on TruckNet is correct, there is no condoning what some brokers have done in taking peopleā€™s money and their dreams from them under false pretences. It sounds, too, as if some brokers are using insolvency procedures to get rid of substantial liabilities before re-emerging under another corporate identity. This use of insolvency procedures would leave a disgruntled driver with no remedies via the civil courts - if his training was via a former corporate identity of a broker that is insolvent, he would be likely to recover a few pence in the pound at best, which realistically means that it isnā€™t worth the costs involved in pursuing a claim.

Hopefully this will attract the interest of the authorities to those behind the brokers. If the allegations against them are true, it sounds like it would be a good thing if they were banned from being company directors.

It would also be a good thing if trainers refused to have any dealings with the brokers, but I can understand a struggling trainer being desperate to take any work that at least allows him to cover his costs (assuming he get paid!) to keep things ticking over until the economic situation improves. Unfortunately, whilst the provision of LGV and PCV training remains unregulated, anyone who has held the relevant licence for three years (or one year if they have held the ā€˜otherā€™ licence for three years - someone holding category D for three years and category C for one year can supervise a category C learner) can provide commercial training. The trainer need never have driven an LGV since he passed his or her test!

The brokers will use whoever is the cheapest - yet, as Peter Smythe has repeatedly said in this forum, cheap training is often of poor quality. It is actually in a bad trainerā€™s interest for candidates to fail, as they get extra money preparing the candidate for retests and the ā€œyouā€™ve come so far, it would be a shame to throw it away nowā€ is a huge lever to extracting more money out of the candidate. DSA record the results of car tests against the ADI who trained the candidate to reveal poorly performing ADIs. With LGV training being unregulated, there is no such lever against poor LGV trainers.

This affair should act as a lever for the mandatory regulation of LGV and PCV training. Iā€™ve posted a new topic on that here.

I wouldnā€™t be quite so sure. It now seems that he didnā€™t have a bomb, didnā€™t have any ā€œgasoline canistersā€ strapped to his body and didnā€™t take any hostages. It seems more like he went in to their office demanding his money back and the female in question fabricated all of this. Her false statements both to the Police and the camera crews might well see her being arrested and charged.

The bomb threat and similar could easily be bluster and Iā€™m not taking it that seriously. However, the video footage clearly shows computers and other office equipment being thrown from several stories up into a main road - something falling onto your head from that height could easily be fatal. The incident led to the closure of Tottenham Court Road for some time and innocent third parties were evacuated due to the perceived threat.

Even if the arrested person didnā€™t actually do throw property from the building, he caused it to occur. There is a sizeable list of possible charges under the circumstances.

Ahh But did he make them throw the pcs out of the window or were they getting rid of any evidence on the computers lol ā€¦ poor bugger i bet he will end up with a charge sheet a mile long but so will this Abby if its true that she made the whole thing up wonder if she is gonna change the company name yet again this time too SHAGGY it wasnt me HGV lol

I applied with them for a training course but then got suspicious that they were a bad news organisation. It was all the too good to be true advertising etcā€¦They should get charged for all the police time wasted.

This might give you a bit more insight into Advanatge HGV, or Advanatge Training Services, or Specialised Training Services or any other name they decide to call themselves.

As an ā€œidiotā€ who fell, hook, line, sinker, rod, and copy of angling times for the shpeal Advantage HGV gave, i have no sympathy whatsoever for them, or their staff. Abbie was the person i had a row with on the day of the siege, some 20 minutes before the guy stormed into the offices and caused havocā€¦fair play to him, i would love to send him some money and a well done card for the 2,500 they took from me earlier this year.
Driving HGV`s has been a dream of mine for as long as i can remember, ive never had the money to afford the training until this year, and i was so excited when i was told by Advantage that i would be working, potentially earning 40,000 p/a within 6 weeksā€¦oh god, what a numpty i am!!!, should have known it was garbage, but hey hoā€¦too late now i guess

If you only get 2 hours per day then they will be breaking their own terms and conditions as per their website

If this happens get straight on the phone to them. Good luck and keep us posted
