In a truck they don’t seem to bother me, euro tunnel waved straight past and Ireland from Holyhead never been asked. The car is another matter, they like emptying my car for me every so often.

To be fair, every time I have crossed it has been very quiet as I was travelling over during the weekend ban with airfreight so they were very thorough with other documentation. CMR checked and x ray every crossing on the tunnel. Ireland was totally different and I’m sure someone said I don’t need a passport for Ireland.

In all your postings I’ve never seen any real proof that you’ve actually had a job that involves international travel of any kind, now you’re saying your passport is about to expire, yet any driver regularly crossing borders and presenting a passport to do so will be well aware when that vital document is about to expire :bulb:

I renewed my passport last month and never heard back about after I sent the cheque a week before payday, went to the bank to see if it cleared and it bounced the day before the next payday…

I used to feel the same way, outrageous, sometimes quite entertaining, possibly trolling, but harmless enough.

However not everyone is as astute as I am (tongue in cheek) so there is always the danger that someone will think that limeyphil is actually someone worth listening to.

Maybe posts like this, which to me seem like a way of explaining why he won’t be going to Bulgaria as he claims in another post, will prevent that from happening :wink:

You go to tbe passport office nearest your house. I believe phil is from the northwest so would be the Liverpool office. You pay a premium i believe works out about 130 all in and its ready in about four hours.
Now would a regular international driver leave it to a week before it runs out. ?
I personaly recon his going over the water experince is crossing the manchester ship canal in a citroen berlingo

French issued EHICs are a real PITA as they are only valid one year at a time and run out on the 31st December.

Better still get a colour photo copy with all the stuff at the bottom on and they can scan it like your passport

I asked ukba at the tunnel today as mine is due renewal and the official answer is no you can’t travel without a passport but the unofficial answer is… if you turn up with photos copies and your driving licence you will be fine.
