Wait for your employer to contact you. One of two things will happen :
Hope and pray for the former and not the latter.
Not just me who is now more confused than before then?
Who knows. I guess there will be a lot of management meetings tomorrow morning so they can work out some way of having staff in, social distancing, and still turning over a profit.
Maybe it’s time to fill up the family vehicles as I’m anticipating fuel prices to jump up slightly due to the increase in demand caused by more vehicles on the road.

Done mine as soon as it dropped to 102.7 by me. Both cars done about 20 miles between them in the last month lol
Plenty of work out there…
What there isn’t is Plenty of premium rate overtime.
Everyone has a choice now as to which side of the Grand Poverty Canyon they wish to be on.
There’s little point chasing incomes of £700-£800pw by working 80 hours @ £10ph rather than 56 hours (50 paid) @ £16ph.
The new great issue for us all - is “Work/Life Balance” now.
I was listening to LBC yesterday afternoon, and found myself a noggin’ joggin with the arguments these two lefties were talking about regarding “UBI” (Universal Basic Income)
and this current opportunity we now have to introduce both a UBI policy along with changes to taxation so that no new taxes need be introduced - just full enforcement of the taxes at the current rates that we already have…
This might mean say, working 25 hours @ £10ph compared to working 50 hours @ £15ph beforehand…
Think about it: How much tax are you paying on the former?
How much were you paying on £750 earnings beforehand? £150 tax and another £120 National Insurance, £45 “pension contributions” (auto-enrolement effectively making these deductions compulsory @ 6% rate)
You’ll end up taking home £435 in this example, compared to £245 (£5 Nics?) on the former…
So at first sight, it seems that earning half the takehome for half the hours - doesn’t exactly leave you better off…
BUT…
You’ve just had your headline rate of pay cut by a full third FFS! I’d say that the practice I’ve described above - might just solve a few other things along the way, such as “improve mental health” and you might even find yourself set up nicely for things like free school dinners (if you’ve got kids) or whatever is the equivalent of “Tax Credits” these days, likely “Universal Credit”…
Let’s say our government might eventually flip over their previously despised UC system for the Corbyn-endorsed UBI system in due course…
We’d actually be seeing both sides of politics agreeing on something profoundly to the benefit of the general public - for the first time since the 1945 election set us on the path to the NHS…
Compare England to Scotland however: Wee Krankie is telling people NOT to go back to work, and “blame Boris’ original instructions” for that, as if Scots with a decent work ethic - are daft enough to buy into her argument that “anything going wrong from here on is Sassenach Tory Fault”… She has chosen to deliberately mis-interpret Boris’ invitation to “return to work as normal from TODAY” imo.
Right Into It!<
There’s now nothing to stop those very sassenachs moving their businesses north of the border, inviting local out-of-work people to come sign up there, and thus we end up with a freshly-turned-over workforce that actually wants to be in work, whilst all those others milking it large on benefits and/or furlough payments - have surely got a limited amount of time before such payments cease outright?
So I re-put OC’s question to any Jocks among us on here then!!
How about it? - Are you going to defy your illustrious leader for “Needs Must” reasons?
…Or are you just gonna hope that Sunak will dish out benefits forever with those staying at home currently “waiting forever” until there’s either a Vaccine that everyone will be willing to take (never going to happen) OR Coronavirus is one day erradicated like Smallpox (Probably not happening any time soon neither!) Sturgeon has effectively sentenced you to be unemployed to death! - And may God have mercy on your Job!
I’m wondering if people are waiting for a job that is “worth taking” to be worth leaving the benefits/furlough pay they are already receiving?
I’d say "Don’t bother waiting, Lobby your MP Blue or Red to push for UBI to be rolled out to replace the Furlough system, the current Tax Credits and Benefits system, and solve the issue of “not enough high-paid jobs to pay those big monthly bills any more”.
I reckon around £2000pm to every household in the country should do it, with taxes being left at the same level, tax offsetting scrapped outright so everyone pays their full taxes.
What a nation of Thrifty “Make-do-and-Mend” Quality Time Rich Staycationing DIY enthusiasts we’d all become!!
Imagine how long you’d be waiting “If you don’t get out of bed for less than £15ph” now - in Scotland.
If we’re ever going to get a “Universal Income” introduced, then the government MUST get everyone back to work first that wants to be at work at least, - and that means creating or advancing a system where “those in work -get the most, those not wanting to work - get the least” rather than ‘nothing at all’ at either end, as it is now…
“Universal” needs to mean “Every working citizen in the UNITED KINGDOM” gets it, rather than it be “Means Tested” (favouring the Scots) or “selective” (Favouring the Scots) or “Temporary” (Favours those already on long-term benefits - like the Scots)
There’s now room to introduce some stuff into our re-built economy here - that could NEVER have been possible “BC” (Before Coronavirus)
Perhaps indeed their IS a shift coming akin to what removed Churchill from power in 1945… I even think Boris is quite happy to walk into the next election and prompty lose it - should there be cross-house support for the changes that would come a lot quicker with Boris & Starmer instead of now-gone May & Corbyn…
Forget Blackfoot - The SNP are nothing now that they’ve refused to raise taxes to keep their own promises…

Only managed to get half a tank in, but at 99.7p/ltr for 95Ron it’s the cheapest I’ve seen it for a long long time. I expect diesel prices to hit 110p/ltr by the end of the week if people start hitting the road and demand for fuel rises. Work wise I’m anticipating the phone call in the next day or two with a possible return to work around the spring bank holiday which is why I topped up the tank.
with shops opening June 1st,possibly,we are on course to return during the week before, get the trucks ready to roll, learn all the new safe distance routes around the yard etc. all of our shops will be ready to re-open June 1st…hope there’s not another ‘spike’ beforehand

Lol…
Apart from one week I’ve been working all through it. Places have put in social distancing, company has put in procedures to follow which everyone seems to be adhering to and they’re supplying all the hand gel and wipes for wiping down surfaces in the cab you want as well as trying to keep the same drivers in the same units.
Where I’d be worried is working for those small “family” and o/d with a few truck outfits “where you’re a name not a number” that people seem to think are the best to be working at. From talking to people who work at such outfits you’re lucky if they’ll give you some hand gel let alone put in any procedures for social distancing etc.

i would think smaller companies would vary across the board.
my mate got told to buy whatever he wants to feel comfortable and hand in the receipts every week.
also with some being off work, then instead of the truck being double shifted, then its 1 man 1 truck as there are spare units now.
no matter where you work, social distancing will be followed or ignored by the individual person.
you can always offset anything not perfect with driver satisfaction as not everyone is interested in sitting in some poverty spec dungheap with a coolbox strapped to the front seat, ( not limited to wages as theres plenty over here on blinged up gruntmobiles on good money) .
theres also plenty working for crap wages but that covers the uk anyway.
