Good job you do not need today as a rest day …
Are you getting paid for it?
Contraflow:
Are you getting paid for it?
Or instructed to do it if the company are paying for the course?
Be careful redbob; it sounds like ROG is trying to gather evidence so he can grass you up to the authorities.
I’m not bothered about the legal ins and outs, I’m more interested in whether you’re getting paid for going to work today or not?
To be fair, I don’t think ROG would do that.
But…
If you are doing it on a rest day, be careful !!

Not my place to report anyone for such a thing – giving the legal requirements and letting the driver decide is more me
ROG:
…giving the legal requirements and letting the driver decide is more me
That’s strange, because all I saw you do was try to lure redbob into admitting he’s working on his rest day. It must be my eyes.

I thought I asked a question in order to see if he might fall foul of the law as many are still unaware of this
Am not been funny but who gives a toss if should be rest day or not am sure the the op is getting paid and if not what does it matter iuts free training another string to there bow some employers wouldnt even pay for it .
Rog is a knolegable person when comes to law etc and would like to hope there is no one that would grass one another up on this forum

I think most people are aware… but just don’t care. Not everybody lives their lives to the letter of the law you see. You should try breaking a rule once in a while ROG, I dare you.

I think many are not aware of what the law is on this issue which is why it has been discussed so many times
I am not TELLING anyone what to do but simply giving info
D you have a conspiracy complex

And if he his not whats the big deal the emploter has paid for the course which they are not obliged to do
you come across oneof these moaning drivers who want everything for nothing .
3 kinds in life
those that dont no there breaking the law
those that choose to and have there answers ready
and those that dont give a [zb]
Just to provide a little clarity…
The periodic DCPC is the DRIVER’S legal responsibility. End of.
If your boss pays for the course, then you’re lucky because there is no legal requirement for the boss to pay for it.
So, if your boss pays for the course AND pays you to attend, then you’re VERY lucky indeed.

Clear are mud
So should it be done on a rest day?

From what I gather so far from VOSA … but yet too be tested in court for a true definition
If the driver is unpaid and chooses to do a dcpc course then the time can count as rest
If the driver is paid to do it or told to to it unpaid by the company that paid for the course then it cannot be rest

I didn’t attempt to address that issue.

like you said not tested but as of sept it’ll be a legal requirement therefore not done voluntarily but as a requirement so cant be a rest day , just saying

What if you get lunch provided and unlimited free coffee aswell? Maybe I should start playing the lottery.
The way I see it, you need to do it in order to do your job; your employer should be paying for it AND you should be getting paid to do it.
Too many mugs in this game who think their boss is doing them a favour by letting them come to work for a day without pay.

You come across as one of those aforementioned mugs.
