Now the idiot transport minister is cyclist bashing

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, He’s ballsed up working the door and hurt somebody … and there was only one of them.

Couldn’t possibly be better news. Talk about egg on face!

Undertaking is mostly ilegal in the UK .why not for cyclists? The most dangerous of all in town…

Cyclist not adopting prime position, unsafe filtering, traversing a gap they would squeal to high heaven about if roles where reversed. Time to remove this menace from our roads
.

Falling off his bike and hitting the ground would have been the least of his troubles had this happened in the good old USA, secret service would not have been quite so concerned about his fall.

He ended up pretty far down the road from that Land Rover!

totally agree…perhaps these chaps could be the answer, though mr mangina was undertaking and riding in a position the highway code dictates he shouldnt have been in,hence he copped a skint knee due to his own ineptitude.the mp wasnt at fault…reality check…just another cyclist fanny that cant ride safely.they should have helped him to his feet, dusted him down, taken him round the corner, and proceeded to kick his head off so he remembers not to do it again.
i still think keeping your pish bottle close to the nearside window would be a better deterrent though.

No suprise he sent his tale to the guardian :unamused:

Not before sending his tale to the police.

Would’ve been funnier if he’d ridden into Boris on a Boris bike

No doubt the nerd will put in an injury claim even though it was clearly his own fault :unamused:

Gets my goat all this going on about cyclists safety, half of them haven’t got the sense they were born with.If they want all this money spending on facilities to make it safer for them slap some tax and insurance on them.
regards dave.

Typical Generation Snowflake ‘it’s always someone else’s fault’ cyclist ■■■■■■■■, and typical Guardian reporting.

Im no fan of cyclists undertaking, but doesnt anyone else think that opening a door (when not at the kerbside) without looking a “bad thing”?

why would you need to look in that situation…nothing should be coming up your inside when your stopped in traffic 2 feet from the kerb…no doubt in his position with the chauffeur etc he wouldnt think he should look, though when my misses is doing it,i tend to be looking for her to see shes not going to damage the door .they cyclist shouldnt have been undertaking/filtering .

Correct me if im wrong.

U cant overtake from the inside. ?

If u overtaking from outside u have to have 1 m clear space from the guy u overtaking. ?

The cyclist risked undertaking and got whats was coming for him. He should be prosecuted for dangers driving and must pay to repair land rover doors.

U on the road u obey the road law. no mater what u drive, pedal walk, or carry.

Or maybe i got it all wrong.

^^^^^^^^^^^+1 you didnt get it wrong.
the cyclist like the rest of them is a classic PRICKEND!!!..

Highway Code
"Rule 151
In slow-moving traffic. You should

reduce the distance between you and the vehicle ahead to maintain traffic flow
never get so close to the vehicle in front that you cannot stop safely
leave enough space to be able to manoeuvre if the vehicle in front breaks down or an emergency vehicle needs to get past
not change lanes to the left to overtake
allow access into and from side roads, as blocking these will add to congestion
be aware of cyclists and motorcyclists who may be passing on either side."
So the Highway code warns of being passed on both sides.
I`m not saying the cyclist was totally blame free, but the opening of the car door was wrong.

It would appear that she’s not the only one! Attitudes like yours (and other ignorant, intolerant ■■■■■■■■■ only serve to exacerbate the situation! Are all truck drivers Yorkie bar munching, Sun reading fat ■■■■■■■ prostitute murderers? To say that ALL of any particular group of people behave in a specified way is crass stupidity and laziness!

But, I guess stereotyping other groups in society makes it nice and easy to justify our own intolerance, ignorance and general dislike for anyone/anything different eh?

you’ve got it wrong mate, you need to keep pace with current happenings - DeputyDog has just discovered a new word so most people on the planet will get called this over the coming months.

Especially when this is the transport minister who has recently being going on and on about the nuisance of cyclist - it is without any doubt he is fully aware of cyclists undertaking as we will regularly have a mail bag full folk going on and on and on about it. Not only that he will have been sat in that car for the past half hour watching cyclist go up the inside - the bloke is a complete idiot.
In any case why is the minister of transport who is apparently trying to deal with the pollution issues from diesel vehicles being chauffeured about the capital in an oversized 4x4 with an oversized diesel engine - Another [zb]ing hypocrite.

suits me just fine though i dont like yorkie bars(you cant deep fry them),the sun would be an insult to my intelligence, and i cant comment about the rest in case it harms my defence in the future,…all you need to do is open your eyes to the modern type of mangina cyclist and its all there in front of you…and dont blame me for being classed as PRICKENDS…blame robroy,he invented the word, but as they say.if the hat fits?

Yes of course he should have looked before opening the car door, I can’t remember the exact rule but it’s perfectly legal to undertake when a queue of traffic is moving slower than you are.

As much as a lot of cyclists ride irresponsibly that doesn’t excuse other road users from using basic common sense and looking before opening car doors.

Having said that, he’s not the first to forget to check before opining a car door and he won’t be the last, so I wouldn’t be too critical about something any of us could do when our minds on something else.

I think we know exactly what else IT has had its mind on. What bile it can bring up in its latest speech attacking anyone who dares to belong to a union. It has been spouting out of its arse all week and longer about it being perfectly safe for train drivers to open multiple doors, when by sight the furthest is about 200 yards away and the cctv camera images are at best a bit iffy. Yet this prat can’t even open one door, which is actually in its hand, safely.

So who is it who is responsible in this RTC? and who is it who will be supposed to report the incident to his own personal motor insurance company? not the minister, it will be the driver of the limo who is responsible for the action of one of his passengers.
