Now my adventure begins

Started my new venture 2 month ago and after passing the HGV theory, hazard perception and CPC theory I started my class 2 training and passed.

Next was the CPC practical, pretty straight forward and passed

This week it was class 1, after having 1 test cancelled due to industrial action I’m pleased to announce that this morning I passed with 0 faults,
Reverse went well with no shunts required, couple and uncoupling went smoothly and I couldn’t of asked for a better drive…surprised how it went so well considering how nervous I was prior to the test.

Massive thanks to Bob and Simon at MSM Training Ltd for there great tuition.

Now the real learning begins once I find suitable work.

Mission complete…

Nice one. Youll love it. It will take around 10-11 years to realise what a ■■■■■■ thankless underpaid job it is. in the meantime enjoy your FL10. then sed atki. then your Iveco eurotech. then your dogs ■■■■■■■■ Eurostar. . then 12 months on stobarts drawbars easy job. I mean that. Oops forgot I did 12 months for maritime somewhere in that lot.

Enjoy your licence and cpc will be worth every penny I’m sure.

I remember having your feelings, seems such along time ago

Why are you wearing a hi-viz?

Do you think someone will bump into you?

Teach them young…
I bet they wear them hi-viz whilst driving too. :grimacing:

Well done Kev. Keep an open mind and do not become a grumpy truck driver with a bad attitude. Far to many around already.

I see being grumpy as more of a “lifestyle choice” and as for bad attitude, well that’s more my superb sense of humour showing through at inappropriate times.

I have had to work hard to achieve these life skills and fit in!

And to the OP - well done and enjoy the job for what it is - some good days and some bad days.

Well done on passing your test. I did mine a long time ago, but I do remember the good feeling of passing, sadly I also remember the disappear of trying to get work afterwards, but keep plugging away and you’ll get something.

There are many types of work to suit the many different types of people driving trucks, so if the job you’re doing doesn’t suit, try something else or just a different company. Hopefully with a bit of luck you’ll eventually slot into a decent job.

Well done and welcome to the meat grinder of UK haulage. As has been said many different kinds of HGV work and you’ll find your spot eventually after working your way through a few crap jobs/firms, the key is to be prepared to move onwards and upwards.

I would hate to be just starting off now the way things are so I don’t envy you mate.

Anyway I won’t be a grumpy old bast/wet blanket, so I’ll say well done and good luck.

I’ll say what I said to Mr Evil8 (before he became so cocky  ) Do not teararse about and do not let any arse hole on a phone try and push you, as either, (or both) is a recipe for a severe ■■■■ up involving both types of skid marks and a crumpled truck.

More importantly get out of the habit of wearing that bloody hi viz when driving to prevent you looking a complete 2at

Had to wear a hi vis just to be seen over the instructors tie

Congrats OP!

Why chance now? :open_mouth:

And I’ve paid attention to your wise words, well more Juddian’s… But I’ll credit you if it makes you feel better!
Obviously you’re right though, and I’ve yet to damage anything, which I know isn’t the agency way, but I can’t seem to make myself crash into anything, no matter how hard I try… :open_mouth:
Instead I’m in and out of the truck like a jack in the box, and as fit as a butcher dog because of it!
It took me possibly 5 mins get out of a yard in the dark yesterday, as I was so nervous about hitting a car on my blindside that I must have looked to check 7-8 times! I was bloody miles away from it! But better safe than sorry! :grimacing:

Happy Xmas Mr Grump!

Congrats

Congratulations Kev, I still remember the sheer exhilaration of passing my Class 1, can even remember the date, 4th November 1986.

Like many of the other old ■■■■■ on here, for me the novelty has long worn off, and I do like to have a moan from time to time, but everybody has to earn a living somehow and driving down the road listening to Popmaster, talking to yourself and scratching your ■■■■■■■■ still beats working in a factory or office any day. Even after all these years, I don’t regret the choice I made.

Have fun!

Well done, Kev.

Small world - I rent a shipping container in that yard!

Congratulations kev on passing your class 1, what a great start to the new year

Well done, happy trucking. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Just as I said…cocky.
Oh! so Juddian’s your new mentor eh?..I’m gutted :frowning: You do realise he’ll have you on manual gearboxes before you can say ‘Eaton twin splitter’ so be warned.
Merry Christmas you ungrateful cocky little ■■■■.

Why did you bother training as an HGV driver, Kev-t?

Why do you bother coming on here?
And under so many assumed names :unamused:
