Now my adventure begins

Because I like talking to you guys! [emoji848]

Pity the feeling aint mutual then :bulb:

Not really. That’s the way I like it.

robroy:
Anyway I won’t be a grumpy old bast/wet blanket, so I’ll say well done and good luck.

Why chance now? :open_mouth:

robroy:
I’ll say what I said to Mr Evil8 (before he became so cocky  ) Do not teararse about and do not let any arse hole on a phone try and push you, as either, (or both) is a recipe for a severe ■■■■ up involving both types of skid marks and a crumpled truck.

And I’ve paid attention to your wise words, well more Juddian’s… But I’ll credit you if it makes you feel better!
Obviously you’re right though, and I’ve yet to damage anything, which I know isn’t the agency way, but I can’t seem to make myself crash into anything, no matter how hard I try… :open_mouth:
Instead I’m in and out of the truck like a jack in the box, and as fit as a butcher dog because of it!
It took me possibly 5 mins get out of a yard in the dark yesterday, as I was so nervous about hitting a car on my blindside that I must have looked to check 7-8 times! I was bloody miles away from it! But better safe than sorry! :grimacing:

Happy Xmas Mr Grump!

Just as I said…cocky.
Oh! so Juddian’s your new mentor eh?..I’m gutted :frowning: You do realise he’ll have you on manual gearboxes before you can say ‘Eaton twin splitter’ so be warned.
Merry Christmas you ungrateful cocky little [zb].

I’m taking him under my wing, ever since he mentioned going out with older men to ‘‘learn the ropes’’ i haven’t been able to get him out of my mind… :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:
So, as you’re his surrogate dad i’m formally asking your permission to teach him the ways of the force… :sunglasses:
i’ll be gentle…

You can be at the uncivil ceremony as beast of honour…

:open_mouth: God Juddian! That IS dark,… ‘learning the ropes’ ‘ways of the force’ ‘beast of honour’ …I’m really beginning to worry for the guy’s safety now

Your worried? :open_mouth: I’m phoning Childline…
Although I think all 3 of us then may get a knock on the door, and it won’t be Santa making a call!

But I think I’ll be OK Robroy, as due to the timing of Juddian’s post, I think someone may have been slipping something extra into his Horlicks! So was possibly getting a little carried away with himself…

It could be worse, I could be under DipperDave’s wing!

I hope I get some of this “treatment” when I pass… eventually.

 Agreed, I would not like to be under ANYTHING that is attached to Dipperdave., ughhh!

You’re going to have to do better with the parking up mate or you’ll never hold a job down. The idea is to have to lorry on its wheels. :bulb:

Cheers for all the comments guys, much appreciated.

I know there’s a lot of despondency in the trade but I’m new and really looking forward to it, sure I’ll think differently in 10 years time.

As for the high vis, it’s a requirement whilst on the test manoeuvring are and forgot to take it off in my excitement of passing…I’ll learn!

Progress so far, been offered a class 1 job on milk tankers but the terms were not to my liking unfortunately.
Have an interview with Wyvern Cargo next Wednesday so fingers crossed.

Well had an interview today with a local haulage firm that run 7.5 ton, class 2 and class 1.

They require 1 years experience on HGV so offered me 12 months on 7.5 ton local work then moving up to class 2 with the chance of moving up to class 1 tramping in maybe 2 or 3 years…

Was kind of hoping to get onto class 1 work a bit sooner and not spend £3.5k to drive a 7.5 tonner for 12 months but I suppose you have got to start somewhere and I’m thankful for them giving a newbee a chance with a reputable company.

I know you’re keen to get on, but it’s a job and it might be better on a 7.5t for a good company and work your way up than go to work driving artics for a buck of cowboys.

And you never know circumstances might mean they put you on bigger trucks sooner than you think, but don’t want to offer that until they see what type of person you are.

I agree with that. When I started I was sent 300 miles down to London (pre. M25 days) in a Transit pick up, green as grass.
( me not the Transit)
If it had been an artic I’d have been ■■■■ ing myself, and the pick up was easier to turn around than an artic after ■■■■ ups…of which there were many.

Did the long wait fit in the ■■■■■■? :open_mouth:

Is that Southampton type humour, as it’s gone right over my swede mate.

Cheers guys…that was my thoughts exactly, at least it shows some good practice within the firm. I’m yet to find out the rates but they did inform me that they pay all there drivers the same rate regardless of what there driving so I’d not lose out starting from the bottom…

What, when you were a nip they didn’t try and send you off to get the Tartan paint, elbow grease or long wait? :open_mouth:

Evil8Beezle:

It’s a long weight, not a long wait. :unamused:

…and don’t forget the spirit level bubbles.

Oh yeah that was the fulcrum, If only I hadn’t tried to simplify it! :unamused:

He’s here all week
