Nothing wrong here

I cannot see what he has done wrong here but the little cyclist seems to think he has done something wrong, what do you guys think?

If he had his indicator on it would be perfect, but I could read from his position he was about to turn left…

Iam viewing from a phone but am I right in thinking the truck has a mangled O/S light cluster?

He’s crossed two solid white lines at a red traffic light signal. He’s stopped in the advance cycle area. If the traffic light is red then you must stop before the 1st white line. If you go over it, you can get a fixed penalty for running a red light.
I know it’s possible the lights caught him out and changed to red and he’s stopped sharply but if he was paying attention then he could have stopped safely. The late indication before going round the corner makes me think he wasn’t 100% sure what he was doing/where he was going, a situation we’ve all been in.
Nothing wrong with what the cyclist has pointed out and all fair observations. If I was the cyclist I wouldn’t have been that bothered about it to post the video on the internet, it’s just one of those things you’ve got to shrug off or you’d work yourself to an early grave.

Good points made there.

With him being over the ASL I am thinking that he was just following traffic when the lights changed hence why he was over the line. Other then that apart from the late indication he has done nothing wrong.

Late signal as maybe he’s seen the cyclist upon checking mirrors prior to moving off. The only thing he’s done wrong is where he’s stopped and we must have all done that at some point.

I’ll give the cyclist some credit for stopping short instead of creeping up the truck’s left side, but if he’s so perfect and we want to split hairs then why does he cycle on the wrong side of the road approaching the lights when there’s hazard warning lines marking the road, a junction to his right and oncoming traffic before swerving into the cycle lane . I’d expect him to the blame the car driver if the car driver was closing the gap in front of him in the queue.

He was on the O/S of the queue of traffic as there was a van and a car parked in the cycle lane. Nothing wrong with approaching the lights overtaking and he knew that as cars pulled away he would be slower so moved back to the near side. Agree its nice to see him stop short and give the truck room.
As I said before it’s all a bit of a non event and just one if those things you encounter daily.

As mentioned, just really the late indicating but it happens.

Nothing wrong with being over the cycle box if the lights changed from green to amber on approach and the truck was unable to stop safely without crossing the ASL.

I agree the cyclist did the correct thing at the junction in hanging back.

The lorry driver should have had his near side indicators on and he shouldn’t have been over the white line, but it’s hardly a case for Interpol is it :unamused:

Just another person with a camera and nothing better to do than post none events on Youtube.

Sad person has to much time on there hands

If the driver had stopped prior to the ASL in that case, the cyclist may have ended up in his blind spot, driver pulls off kills cyclist. However, as everyone else had said sensible cyclist and HGV driver should of indicated while stopped at the line.

For all those saying he should’ve had his nearside indicator on whilst waiting to turn, yes he should BUT…

2 things.
1, sometimes the steering wheel is just in a place where it keeps cancelling the indicator, we’ve all had that.
2, have you heard the indicator buzzer on an Iveco?? You turn it off wherever possible to stop yourself going insane :open_mouth:

Cyclist is a drama queen, sure he did right hanging back behind the truck, but big deal, that’s a matter of self preservation not a pat yourself on the back decision :unamused:

it’s a DAF CF 65 wayne

Transport for London have a very good booklet available “Drivers think Cyclist,Cyclists think Lorry” its worth looking at but I doubt our cycling friends would bother as they are always in the right!,I was given the advise that if due to traffic conditions you are caught out over the advance white line proceed to the second white line and stop, you cannot be issued with a fixed penalty as long as you stop at the second white line, however some of the “Peoples Democratic Republic” boroughs in their greed for revenue will issue PCN’s in the hope that people pay up(after all someones got to pay the £250.000+ wages of the “portfolio holders” and “cabinet members” as local borough council officials like to call themselves thesedays )

Ok he is over the lines and not signalling but we dont get the picture as to why he is there. He could have been waiting to turn left when someone ran across the road in front of him and fell over or something. Who knows why he is there without the full facts.

as for bradley wiggins. He cycles down the outside of a queue which is fair enough but the problem is he forces a car coming towards him to slow and move to the left. I see his argument would be the parked car on the inside which could be parked in the cycle lane at a time of its operation but it could also be at a time the cycle lane is out of operation and thus perfectly legal. If we want to get pedantic over posting useless tripe like this then lets ask the cyclist why he overtook the cars when that other car was coming towards him. He obviously tries to show he is patient in the video saying i will wait here but he could also have waited further back before the parked car.

Too much time on his hands. Moob

You know what blows my mind, the time someone has taken to put that footage onto a computer, then edit it and then upload it. For basically ■■■■ all

Few years back he would have been stood on a station platform with flask of hot Bovril taking the numbers of steam locos

No accident, nobody hurt, so I don’t see what the problem is.

Another non road tax paying, non fuel using cyclist with ■■■■ all better else to do.

Ken.

To be fair to the cyclist, if you look at some of his other videos you’ll see he does criticise cyclists and car drivers if he sees them behaving like idiots.

At-least he’s not one of the morons looking out only for lorry drivers in the wrong.

+1 … and for good measure, whilst I agree the cyclist has done the right thing by hanging back, he probably didn’t look to his left to see if any other cyclist was approaching, as he weaved from the middle of the road to the nearside…

Truck driver really should have stopped before the cycle box… and if caught by the lights, showed little anticipation or forward planning, especially if planning to turn left!
