Who were the ones from Poyntzpass-spelling may be wrong.None of the names mentioned ring a bell.Anyone know about the fortunes (or otherwise) of the old boys(sorry, lads if you’re reading this) from Woodside? Gengis and Ted West come to mind.

I like Woodsides livery especially the old two tone green one. They have a lot of these specialised trailers I think they haul tar. In the 1970’s they had a partnership with H & ME Fearon of Mealsgate, hauling into Belfast. Today they probably own 250-300 vehicles, including their subsidiaries Motorfreight, Haulage Services and All-Route Shipping. I visited their impressive yard in Carrickfergus Road, Ballynure, they used to have a depot at Glenluce near Stranraer.
McBurney have probably around 300 vehicles, they have expanded rapidly in the last few years. Regarding Montgomery it is difficult to work out how many vehicles they have I would estimate 400, they take over a of companies but do not increase their fleet size! companies taken over by Montgomery include:- Agnew & Lithgow, Wm Gaskell, East West, Connolly and Dukes Transport.

Most of Hume,s lad had my Mobile number and would call me out of hours to drop or pick one up . Yes you a right about the yard, i was the manager there moved to Calgary Canada our yards a bit bigger if all are trailers came home it holds 1540 of them oh and there also 53 ft long we also send them out double some times on nite trunks
. Poyntzpass was Persit owned by Kenny Liggett and a French man Jacques Persanio from Paris. And Genghis did drive for them ?
Not a very good pic of previously mentioned Murphy/White RC2, but a faded pic is better than nowt, hopefully brings back memories for some!
