Love them pics Bonkey.
All the firms pictured with wagons here still run today, except TR Hughes who are not still going (as far as I know).
Have you got any more from around here?

I’ll have a look mate - though I’m unsure if they will be the same firms as I’ve listed already.
That looks like burley hill quarry on eryrys road. I drove for H.Davies on D59TMB then had DG02NTU brand new.
D473OFM was drove by Tommy Challoner fron new and had it until his new Alpha came in May 2001.
Foden Alpha 420

That’s not right.
But I tell you what is right…
As soon as I find more Welsh tippers, they’ll be banged up on here !
I cant wait! at least 3 of them pics were taken in redlands (now lafarge) at llanarmon y ial. D g roberts and h davies’s yards are both within 1/4 mile of there.
Is it the Redlands quarry where the Roberts and Davies Constructor are loading under the tar plant ?
BTW,good idea loading under a tar plant whilst being stood on a w/bridge.
Darlton quarry (Tarmac owned and ex Wimpeys) at Stoney Middleton employs this idea and I’m certain they don’t have much wastage.
Heres a little story for you! that j&m garner one (B377). I was in school with melvyn garners son - phillip. In 1984 I was walking to school on my todd aged 10
( you wouldnt allow that these days!) any way, theres a loud blast of air horns and melvyn is taking phillip to school in B377 (chassis cab)which he had picked up from avonmouth the previous day if I remember rightly. He dropped phil of at school, then took the F7 for a body and ram. that scrapped truck is still in their yard. its in the back shed. I think is was the only dark blue one they have ever operated. the rest being white.
no. from the top counting down, redlands are pictures 1 2 3 5 7 8 11 14. the rest being the ARC (hanson) tar plant in burley hill (then tilcon, now tarmac). burley hill quarry is supposed to be re-opening this may.
On the 8 th picture down, I NEED to find out whose that smart lookin white constructor / roadtrain is between the two trucks.

If you would like (and have the pics close to hand on your computers hard drive) you could email them to me and I could put them up for you.
Otherwise, simply create an account at photobucket.com,upload the pics onto there and copy paste the http details for forums and message boards.
Thats the baby!! As rob said it was one of DG’s. its got the old hub reduction axles… nightmare!!
