No more free showers

What do you expect from those rip off penny pinching 2hats. :smiling_imp:
Just remind me where Pennington MSA is btw.
They should be looking towards easing the driver shortage situation starting with reasonable parking charges for starters, even free parking.

He’s just running a buisness like the tories tell him to - do you want a communist republic where people give lorry drivers a free shower?

The only free shower you’ll get off a tory is a golden one.

I didn’t pay…

For showers when Thatcher or Blair were in power did I.

Wasting your time/virtual ink Brother. None of the Einstein’s on here have realised that the £25 night out money hasn’t gone up in decades so every year it’s worth LESS…

Take £3 off an already in real terms decreased payment for something that used to be free and folk are lapping it up

Let’s all ask for worse conditions and start demanding in cab cameras too ffs :unamused: :unamused:
Some of the thickest people I’ve ever experienced on here.

This guy…

Get’s it. Next prime minister/milk monitor right here.

Then your issue is with terrible conditions in pay ie night out cash not going up with inflation. If there was such a national shortage as is being stated just now surely now is the time to address this.

This portable shower is a cheap and simple solution.

Your welcome. :sunglasses:

I’m simply going to lay somewhere with my big, unwashed, sweaty arse wafting in through the service station managers window. Tagnuts and all.

I usually pay for the golden ones.

One of these would do . I used one on a recent camping trip . And can’t believe how warm. It got left outside . And had a decent.flow of water. Just need find a place to hang it up .

The rising price of wholesale energy seems not to be a consideration for the long-time freeloader, but is merely a cost to be borne by another.

Another way of looking at the situation is that one (not me btw) has benefitted for many years from free showers. Now that the free at point of use scenario has ended (a shower is never free by the way, just the same as a lunch), one may be seen as ungrateful for the benefit previously bestowed (or rather permitted). One would seem to have taken it for granted and is now looking a gift horse in the mouth, complaining about future cost based on a previous gesture of goodwill. All the while, the beneficiary has benefitted from sums of money far greater being taken out of tax consideration for the purposes of making overnight stays more comfortable.

Of course the showers were never intended for non-customers, a blind-eye has just been turned for the longest time.

Are you guaranteed a terrible variant of athletes foot in those free showers?

Anyone see the EU offer 80% of NI imports let through if we will just F*** off? Boris STILL wont accept it and F*** off tho.

This has been brought in, because of the invasion of filpskis parking There, not paying. Blame Amazon down the road.

The purpose built Amazon building?
With truck parking and driver facilities?
As approved in planning permissions?

If that’s the case, why is there upwards of 15 EE units in Donnington services daily, and in the Layby towards there then?

Wouldn’t you rather pay £3 if they were £3 cleaner? Or are they usually spotless?
Are you going to have a shower if not in a 9/11 hr rest (paying for parking anyway)

You can say what you like, showers should be clean as a matter of routine, and they should be free, even as a goodwill gesture.
Some of us refuse to park at these places, if they made them cheaper and more attractive, maybe we would be tempted to park there.
As things are I have a strong aversion to being ripped off, this sort of thing vindicates my opinion on these places.

What does it matter what they charge for parking if you pay to park you pass it on to your employer. If you work for a skinflint that doesn’t pay why would you use the services.

Ummm.
Should I have put one of these there?

Firstly that is not the reason for avoidance, I DO get re.imbursed for parking, but like I said,.I’ve an aversion to being ripped off,. :bulb:
The initial outlay out of my pocket, of the thick end of 30 quid over however how many nights a week, :open_mouth: to receive a ■■■■ Burger King special.as an ‘‘evening meal’’ is not my idea of ATTRACTIVE, if that is your idea of tramping it AINT mine.
So it DOES matter,… .so thanks but no thanks, re.imbursement or not.

Well said. I can think of nothing worse thank parking up at services overnight. And usual junk food outlets for tea / and being stuck in cab untill next morning.
I’d rather park where I know …then able get out go for a nice walk. Sit at a table in local.pub have a decent meal chill out. Etc.

The point is liking services or not it’s not you being ripped off.

^^^^^^^^
Jyst whatever mate.
Put it down to me having principles, it would grieve me paying 30 quid for 3rd class facilities, to a rip off outfit with no real priority for truckers… irrespective of whether I get it back or not.
Hope that clarifies…at last. :unamused:

Generally agree with your posts, (though obs not these ones ) but your principles fall short of using the ‘rip off outfits’ facilities…

What i don’t get is why people are saying you are being ripped off paying £3 for a shower, as has been said if you buy a meal you get the shower free and this is coming out of the money you have been given for staying out not out of your own pocket.

Can you reserve a space via an app on your phone at some of the bigger truck stops ? They do that here in the US but it costs more and ■■■■■■ off other drivers off when they come in and the only spaces left are ‘reserved’ ones with no trucks in them.
