No drivers allowed to use the canteen

How many times have you seen that sign and the sign that says “No drivers to use the toilets”.
Staff only.
If they allow visiting drivers to eat in the subsidised canteen, they get more revenue.
Why do they not want us there ?
There was a Mmtm story of a driver refused the loo.
He did his “business” on the lawn in front of the main office to the shock of the ladies working there.
That is one way to get banned.
Some places display the names on their naughty list of who is banned.
You can save a fortune eating at Rdc’s.Wilkinsons were fab for this.

Legally, under their beloved H&S legislation, they have to supply toilets, washing facilities, and drinking water. Having said that, I wonder if the HSE would ever bother if it was only a driver being refused the khazi?

as said about the loo’s also there’s a part in H&S that requires access to food and drink after a set amount of time

It’s simple really ■■■■ in a bottle then give it them to put in the bin

Just because it’s a legal/h+s requirement doesn’t mean they’ll follow it. The way I look at it is it’s their outfit they do as they please. Sometimes I struggle to find a toilet or I’m too intimidated to ask, when it comes to food forget it, I’m extremely lucky to have a packed lunch to take to work everyday.

Overpin the sign with one saying “No blacks or Poles in this area” and watch what happens.

Black Polish lorry drivers must have it real tough then…

UK transport is 20 years behind the times.Drivers allow themselves to be treated like dog muck on shoes.

Just before I retired, used to deliver to the back door of a large funiture shop. You were greeted by a homemade sign, made buy the nice man in goods receiving. It read:
1 ring bell once only.
2 do not ring bell between 10am and 10 30am or between 12 30pm and 2 00pm.
3 do not ask to use the phone.
4 do not ask to use the toilet.
5 do not enter the warehouse.
6 do not go to the front door after ringing the bell,we will get to you when we are ready.
When he did open the door,he was the nastiest person I have ever encountered at a delivery.
Why are people like this ■■
Regards John.

Because their lives are so miserable they think everybody else should suffer.

Old67,that sounds like a mad Irishman,a supermarket manager that would see you pull up to unload, and he would pull down the shutters and then refuse to answer the rear door bell.
He had a huge chip on his shoulder and an attitude that stank.

I once contacted H&S exec after being refused access to the toilets to a DC I was delivering to. They said that it was illegal to refuse access to toilets and wash facilities to visitors to site and that next time on site point this out to offending sites. If it carries on then inform H&S and they will investigate! :sunglasses:

First Choice Wholesale in Burton on Trent. Open 8-4 but wont take deliveries 12-1. When you get there expect to be ignored until there is a queue of lorries waiting to unload, watch the happy helpful speedy guy on the forklift dawdle about, moaning about what’s been delivered. Then after an hour of him checking the previous load at a snails pace he’ll ask you to pumptruck your pallets off. On complaining, get the overused excuse “he’s very busy and working on his own.”
Why do these places treat delivery drivers like crap? Do we make the Tesco delivery guy wait 10 minutes before we answer the door? Do we make him wait for an hour whilst we check the shopping?

Had a strange loo experience a while ago-- I was desperate: touchin cloth, curious tortoise etc
Anyway, office bod said I could use their loos just this once but drivers normally had to use the ‘drivers toilets’ which I presume where a little less plush.

I was a little annoyed at this so left them a nice ‘topdecker’, apologies for not helping with the truck driver stereotype…

Did George Michael give you his autograph afterwards?

I think that’s what’s called a vicious circle – or is it “own goal”.

 at the time I was definately suffering from a vicious circle…

Why do these places treat delivery drivers like crap?

Because you let them?

I did complain at First Choice. Some supervisor bloke did apologise but only after I asked why is it such an inconvenience to deliver something they ordered in the first place? One thing the tipper/aggregate game does better is charge waiting time. About time other businesses followed and put a stop to these companies getting free warehouse space.
