No comeback on the driver if trailer doesn't have internals

Asked transport for straps to secure load the reply was that they didn’t have any,But it’s ok because there wouldn’t be any comeback on the driver if stopped by Vosa.(DVSA) As the trailer doesn’t have internal straps fitted oh well that’s new one on me…

is it not fitted with the netting system that most of the brewery trailers have ?

Yes it is, you can see the nets

No nets all been removed

I thought they were behind the curtain, I need my eyes checking.

In which case, the trailer wouldn’t have moved an inch if it was me.

No restraint, especially looking at how the front is loaded will not end well. Straps fitted or not, it is the DRIVER who is responsible for the safety of the load.

Classic BS baffles brains bollox but care to share where this was and if the load was taken or not… I have a funny feelin you chanced it.

I would have thought that no internal straps would mean ratchet straps would be used. No way id take that on the road. One dodgy corner turn and a tarp curtain isnt going to stop it toppling out. Even if it does, whos going to be the one to stand underneath the bulge opening said curtain?

And that happens on restrained loads on some of there trailers, some one decided it would be a good idea to build brewery trailers with an aluminium floor which carry kegs = recipe for disaster, the load slides off if you over cook it on a bend or roundabout!

Aspall cyder and Spontex on there commonrail, I know exactly where you loaded mate!!

Any Driver is responsible for the load he or she carries, unless the vehicle is preloaded and has been sealed by a third party ready for delivery.

Thought you couldn’t use internal straps no more as all loads must strapped to the trailer bed like a flatbed■■?
I may well be wrong as usual lol

All depends on the weight of those pallets and whether it’s an XL rated trailer and curtains. But on a cursory glance, looks dandy to me. I’d pull that.

i thought that mind ring a bell

the kegs at the front are strapped with ratchets and a cross.the second row with internals because on the other side is a crushable load.
cross behind the double row of pallets, and the single pallet at the back.
plus load bearing curtains.

It’s interesting to know how you guys do it now, i ain’t pulled a curtainside trailer since 2009 :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Looking at this lost load of kegs its not only curtainsider’s that can lose em :exclamation: What puzzles me is the truck looks like its possibly an East European outfit so how far has it travelled before losing its load in Bradford

wrong side,is the pub not on the other side lol

Looks like the same trailer I used at ebbw Vale last year.

Them Decks bring back memory’s I’ve pulled many loads on them on the 3 years I spent on agency for TT out of Burton upon Trent before I moved on to a full time job . These trailers look in no better condition to what they use to but they do have inner nets in them plus rear nappys though they were very tatty also them excel trailers in your picture have reinforced curtains hence whey they are heavier I must admit I’m surprised they’ve not updated them with a similar system to what they have in there newer single deck trailers for securing the load with the bungee and ratchet system from roof though in all honesty would u be able to secure that load with internals as there usually only rated to 800kgs and the kegs for sure weigh more and also most of them loads are usually on full weight and loaded to the limit the ones I took into depots were majority of time .
