Just for fun, I’ve had a look back at this…
Your (throw-away) mention of a museum seems to have unfortunately opened the door for all manner of Carryfast induced irrelevance being launched at us poor unsuspecting punters from Carryfast’s Katyusha launcher.
I’m still struggling to find a connection between a household sound system and whether (or not) a vehicle is fitted with a CD player, so I’m thinking of calling Toby in to referee it.
And may have mercy on our souls.
To be fair he did ask
and it’s all part of the mechanics as to how anyone can ( could
) play whatever anyone listens to at home just the same in the car/truck,using compatible home and mobile media, without having to pay unnecessary charges, like £50 per month or more
etc,for the privilege.Seems like a case of going technologically backwards so that a few middle men can get rich to me.Which was the point.
Look like i’m in trouble then

Spotify is the dogs Bo locks, I couldn’t do without it these days. Not played a CD in many a year. Come join us in 2017, get a cheap smartphone, download Spotify and BOOM, all the music you ever wanted
Agreed even the free version is good nobody uses a CD player anymore, 30gb on the 3 network and sorted.
But the sound quality on Spotify is ■■■■. Compressed lossy ■■■■.
If you’re cheap and have cloth ears, then I suppose that would do.
Some of us actually still have decent hearing and still want to listen to uncompressed lossless music.

Spotify is perfectly fine for the truck since truck manufacturers aren’t really known for fitting high quality speakers. You can put as high a quality sound on as you can find but it’ll still only sound as good as the speakers you have to hand

Heres a question.
How do you change music, find tracks or albums or specific songs when the app is on your phone?

With steering controls if connected by Bluetooth or what I do is line up everything I want to play before I set of. Ideal now the BBC Radio player has auto play meaning it’ll pay a series of radio programs without your input and the beauty of Spotify is you can line up a playlist of music that will last your journey
Edit: I assume you meant while driving rather than asking for a step by step guide to finding music
Seems to be a few savvy drivers on here that may be able to help me out, does anyone know about pod casts? A driver told me he downloads books and all sorts and listens to them, what is a pod cast and where do you get them?

Lol
Yes that’s what I meant.
Podcast info for me too please. Anyway to get English radio station podcasts and play them in the truck in Holland?

What phone do you have? iPhones have a dedicated podcast app, open that and search to your hearts content. Someone else will know more about Android than me. I also subscribe to Audible, £7.99 a month for one credit, which will get you any audio book they have. Also as I mentioned BBC Radio Player let’s you download their various programs which you can do at home to save data

BBC Radio Player is the business. You can download whole shows, complete with music on music stations

Brilliant, I have an iphone 5 so I will get the app. Glad I asked now as I have heard of pod casts but never known how or where you get them. Thanks for this.

Either way it all needs some form of mobile/portable media to play it when you’ve got it and the most efficient and cost effective way to provide that is a CD player.
English radio over seas would probably best be done by recording it onto CD off of a home hi fi internet radio tuner. But again no good if vehicle CD is taken out of the frame.

You’ll have the app already as its preloaded. When on home screen swipe right and type Podcast in search bar and app will appear

But can I download podcasts in Holland? I can’t access BBC iplayer for instance as it detects I’m not in the UK. I miss stuff like Heart, Magic, Smooth radio etc. Even radio 2 even though it’s not cool !

Well I never, your dam right it is there, the only apps I use are CoPilot and google maps, never bothered reading or looking at the others.

Except for the warning that using BBC radio player abroad is a ‘data intensive service’ if you’re streaming it through a mobile phone.
With no CD player in the truck to circumvent that how convenient for the phone service providers.
