No Airconditioning

got A/C in the scania , but i don’t think it works half as well as me old volvo.

tip for all you drivers who say A/C gives them sore throats due to the dry air > turn the temp gauge up a little, it takes the edge off the cold air

have air con and love to use it to keep cool whilst but the stupid daf has a 2 miniut shut down wen stationary

knock the revs up a few notches on the cruise control and you will stop this from happening

cheers il give that a try

Don’t use aircon if you or your passenger has a cold.

Why’s that then?

Apparently the germs in the air are sent around the system, I guess reinfecting yourself or breeding in the system??

Bunch of whimps
In the period from 1975 to 2000 I only ever drove one lorry with A/C and it was a Hertz rented F10, I used it for one night shift on Swifts. I know some of the F10’s Swifts had were fitted with A/C but I never found any that worked and I didn’t care either, just rip along the motorway with the windows open and a fan on the dashboard and the roof open too.
Mind you I don’t think I could cope without it over here as the heat which is a tad higher in the summer months (around 100f every day and night) and the humidity can be unbearable.
But back in Europe … Nah !

For those who say its fitted but doesn’t work, probably only needs regassing at about £80.
Have a go at the co. saying they spent the extra money to spec the motors with A/C to keep drivers happy, comfortable & less stressed, so it should be working.

I’m at a loss to work out why having A/C fitted would near double the cost of a 6 week safety inspection.

For those of you saying its fitted but doesn’t work, probably only wants regassing at about £80. Have a go at the co. saying they spent extra money to spec. the trucks with AC to keep the drivers happy, comfortable and therefor less stressed. So it should be working.
I bet the top bosses have no idea its not working.

I’m still trying to work out why having AC fitted would almost double the cost of a 6 weekly safety check?

Living in the USA Pat hasler is probably not aware that in Europe we have ‘GLOBAL WARMING’ and the daily temperature can now reach 200+ degrees and aircon could be deemed useful but hell we just don’t fry an egg on the road surface anymore we can do a whole chicken…em! might even get mine sorted one day if it reaches 300 degrees.

Next time you get in, it’ll probably have windows that don’t go down anymore.

Ive a brand new daf lf 14 tonner with no aircon or sunroof so that = betty swollocks the past week even with the windows down and shorts on.

most of ours don’t have aircon, and i can cope with that, as i’d rather have the window down and get some breeze thru the cab once i’m moving, but it is nice round town or to take the heat out of it when you first star it up. what does bother me though is quite a few of ours have a switch blank with the aircon symbol above it. to my mind that’s just jim bowen “lets see what you could have won”

No aircon…thats a GV9 :smiley:if its fitted it needs 2 work

Nonsense.

I can’t live without it, windows shut, a/c on full whack no 2 ways about it. Even in winter I keep it on in every motor I drive to keep it working & keep the air dry. How do trampers sleep in this heat? Seems very silly to me having a night heater but not the opposite built into the same unit or something for times like these. Maybe they exist but employers are too tight to pay for them…!?

They do. There are those roof mounted air con things that work with the engine off. If you can find a pic of Switchlogics truck on here, you will see what I mean.

I know what you mean, a lot of Irish motors seem to have them but to me they look ugly. I’m thinkIng maybe they could make it such that cold air would come out if the same vents as the heating or the ones on the dash (engine off)…!?

You will also see any Spanish truck under 3 years old as it’s now law down there to have them for at night so chances are any unit you see with a pod does spain often  bloody handy tell you that

More nonsense.I suggest you ask the drivers at Mazo, Belzunces, and a host ofother Spanish firms who are currently renewing their fleet if they have night aircon pods fitted on their new trucks - they will tell you not.

Its what we got told in the last firm I was working for by the boss so therefore every new unit that came in had a woking pod (yes he was and still is tight as a ducks a*rse)and also had the redcaps check mine one night so maybe you need to take another look at that
