I can’t live without it, windows shut, a/c on full whack no 2 ways about it. Even in winter I keep it on in every motor I drive to keep it working & keep the air dry. How do trampers sleep in this heat? Seems very silly to me having a night heater but not the opposite built into the same unit or something for times like these. Maybe they exist but employers are too tight to pay for them…!?

They do. There are those roof mounted air con things that work with the engine off. If you can find a pic of Switchlogics truck on here, you will see what I mean.

I know what you mean, a lot of Irish motors seem to have them but to me they look ugly. I’m thinkIng maybe they could make it such that cold air would come out if the same vents as the heating or the ones on the dash (engine off)…!?

You will also see any Spanish truck under 3 years old as it’s now law down there to have them for at night so chances are any unit you see with a pod does spain often  bloody handy tell you that

The bus I had today had no aircon, 29c in the cab, bloody roasting!!!
Sadly no maximum working tempreture.

ive never really been a fan of aircon but this week ive really noticed the differance and now want an aircon pod

ive always just opened the windows and enjoyed the breeze.

I got aircon but don’t like the dryness of the air it gives out so it’s both windows and the sunny open for me, I can even ■■■■ in the knowledge I won’t pass out at the wheel…

Same, rather have fresh air, get a headache in stores and shopping malls and on aeroplanes due to the aircon, get really dehydrated.

Used to drive the original Optares, they were like goldfish bowls, you got hit off the sun from every direction, and that was usually on local runs, so no speed to get any air in the cab either, but the doors could be opened whilst moving in them days

Im afraid to report, Lizzie Clare has no Aircon, therfore open windows, and sunroof and the resultant dusty dash are my daily dealings.

Horse and cart was it

No A/C for me, I’m a real man!

Actually, I’d love it but it’s a cost option on a DAF :frowning:

No AC where I work as it almost doubles the cost of the 6 weekly check :frowning: Had to sleep in my pants with windows down, ■■■■ out and sunroof open the other night.

Ive got aircon on the vehicles I drive but I dont like to use it, I prefer the window down but the passengers moan they get to hot

Bah, I wanted to know if a roadhawk works as a cockhawk too. I want to use one as a fannyhawk.

Erm, okay I’ll shut up and quietly scurry off now.

Takes beige Y-fronts off and goes to bed

Not that long ago, around 2000 - 2003, a lot of advancements in the vehicles since then thank god.

That’s the style Optare I mean, they were bloody awefull… The newer ones aren’t great, but those things were torture in summer due to heat, torture in winter due to drafts and torture if your hearing wasn’t bolloxed due to all the rattles and bangs and vibrations.

Got air con, not that it did much use today because my n/s mirror came loose & kept blowing inwards at speed

I drive some with, some without…To be totally honest, I cant be arsed looking, I just run with the windows open.....But then I do like really hot weather, used to be a Chef, so dont mind a bit of heat and am of the opinion that AC is a bit for poofters

ive now reconned that running 25+yrs in uk with window down has fd up my hearing a bit…now i just open roof vent if im on an80s truck an try to save one ear…
jimmy.

I would rather sleep in peace with the vents open, but haven’t shut down the engine for two days here in Texas… it’s 36 degrees c average temp right now.

Sent from my lilipad using frogtalk.

dont run with the sunroof open on a topline unless you fancy sharing your bed with dead flies and wobbies

Ha ha. When it’s 38 and 40 degrees or more, and you’re sitting in your own little puddle of sweat, is when you wouldn’t mind being called a poofter.
I drove an old '83 merc for a bloke out here. No a/c and the fan didn’t even work, but I did have window winders… alright, the n/s one didn’t work, but it looked good. But it didn’t have a limiter.
