No air con is illegal

I think that the factories act, enforced by HSE says that workplace temperature should not exceed 30c degrees C

I wish! thats certainly not the rule at my place! (land rover solihul) we’ve had the union down and they said all they can do is ask for fans when it was close to 36 degrees today inside! :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

There is no legal maximum temperature that you can stop work at.

actually there is when hell freezes over

Does this mean I can refuse to take out my unit as the fridge is on the blink? Surely it’s infringing my human rights having to have warm milk on my cereal :open_mouth:

That’s a minimum not a maximum. There is a minimum , I thought it was 16 degrees celcius.

Really? Guess the guys working in the fridges and freezers for Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Iceland and the like missed that memo………

Yeah put like it sounds wrong I suppose. I worked, briefly in an ambient warehouse. Unheated of course and when it got to 16 degrees every union steward in the place was checking every thermometer around the building to see if we could all go home. I guess in chilled and frozen warehouses that tesco and the rest provide specialised PPE to cope with low temperatures.

I firmly believe that I started the thing about pretty blue lights in the cab signalling that the driver is gay.

I worked in a freezer/coldstore back in 1989 and back then we were to spend no longer than 30 mins at a time at -22 freezer. We then had to come out for 15 mins to warm back up. We wore padded insulated overclothes but the boogies in the nose would freeze and the sweat in your trainers would also freeze (before we had to wear steelies).

Well that explains why I’ve been getting more attention lately.

I started one about being parked at stansted services, being kept awake by the planes, phoned vosa who then got the flight path rerouted. Told this to a couple of people, that I’d heard this had happened to somebody. Within a few weeks I heard it back from another driver at our company, who’d actually had it happen to him!

Trying to think of something else to see how long it takes…

^^^^^^ love it.

I was greasing up the Manitou… :unamused:

It’s legal in Canada I believe, but to be honest,I wouldn’t brag about it on here

Seriuosly though think this is RDC bullshine I started ages ago …

I think we should do this as a TrucknetUK equivalent of Alex Lester’s Slap My Top. We should each come out with some completely preposterous ■■■■■■■■ at a RDC and see how long it takes to get spread about the country.

Good idea connor,i love to hear and talk total bollox[[its my hobby  ]]i will get my thinking flat cap on

Sounds good to me, I have an idea for one that is subtle enough to pass the RDC bs alert for your average driver.

It goes:
Dvosa are stopping drivers who have a hi viz on whilst on motorway and issuing fines/warnings.

To win we must hear this repeated back to us with added bs or a corporate muppet produces a memo instructing drivers not to wear a hi viz behind the wheel.

Of course wearing a hi viz when not on multi drop does mean your available for cottaging and general glory hole shenanigans. Not as bad as having blue lights inside though…

Claretmac:
Apparently you are only allowed to put a maximum of 3 handfulls of grease on the 5th wheel, anymore and you risk excess grease falling on the road and causing an accident!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

…Don’t forget - the grease must also be applied to the 5th wheel - with an old high-viz! :sunglasses:

Yes there is… About 950c…

I’ve yet to see any worker resume work after being subjected to that down the crematorium… :smiling_imp:

Well last week one of our drivers was stopped for having no number plate on trl by the SAS they found him guilty as charged by the roadside they said the offence was so serious that under the new laws issued by VOSA there can only be one outcome !!
He was shot dead by the kerb his body was then taken to be displayed at traiters gate as a warning to others furthermore all his family his friends ,neighbours the pet dog (called colin ) a man he used to pass on sun morning and say "morning " when he went for a paper have all been deported to a salt mine in Russia.
When he came to work the next day the boss told him not to worry and go get another plate from the shop!
I know it to be the truth so there !!!

There was a minimum temp , remember comming in to start work in a factory and if the tempature wasn’t above a certain level within x amount of time you would go home for the night ,that’s 30 + yrs ago though and when unions ruled .
I remember strikes because the canteen menu was changed without consultation :exclamation: ,if the stewards could get you out the door they would .
I loved it as I was a apprentice and I was not allowed to work because of pickets ( they’d of not done us any harm as it was our dads on strike ) ,but dad really struggled as they were on strike more than they were at work at times :frowning:
We weren’t allowed to vote as apprentices even though I did once as wanted time of ( paid ) ,dad clocked me and i got a wack round head when I got home .
Amazing times really ,hands up all those in favour of strike action ( hardly any) ,hands up those against ( loads up) ,and then they’d be on strike as stewards reconedthere was a unanimous majority in favour of strike action :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused: .
As I say good times for a apprentices ,but a lot of dads etc really struggled to make ends meet

Air Con, what ever happened to having both windows down and the sun roof open.
