not a bad idea
Detling is a daft idea trucks on grass donât mix

Altho it is not great itâs better than keeping the M20 closed, and may as well use manston for something they wonât turn it back into a airport, from delivering local (outside the fence) there is probably about 6 houses close enough to be affected the rest are tarts from minster worried about their house prices, they stopped the planes from night flights, they stopped houses being built instead, now they donât want lorryâs parking there. The roadâs were set up for manston to be expanded but again they put a stop to that.
Itâs about time they sorted out a safe place for the drivers of stack to rest and use proper facilities hopefulây they can get some Free basic hot food cooked for them there by trainee chefâs from the Army, Airforce, Navy,
After all they are only human and doing a job, and in return most of kent can run more fluidly.
Also back the Argument of Why buy a house NEXT to an airport if you donât like noise?
Free food whoâs going to pay for that .i wonât be impressed if my council tax goes up because of that . A good restaraunt or at least snack wagons but free def not
mazzer:
To be honest have very little sympathy for the people of Kent every time over the last 10 years or so a suggestion has been made to sort out the parking problems in Kent the people of kent have objected so hard to feel any genuine sympathy for them another bunch of people who want the goods but would rather they delivered by magic than by lorry
âSac Magiqueâ at that.

You have obviously never been to that part of Kent. Dover ramsgate and Margate have been very badly hit over the years with having Dover port on its doorstep . For years in the 90âs and 2000 it was the dumping ground for every thing that stowed away on a boat even if found up country they where usually dragged back to that part of Kent every empty house flat b&b hotel and doss house was jammed to the rafters with men from the Balkans ,Afghanistan Iraq or where ever. The government eventually had to disperse them around the country but not before they had dragged these towns into the gutter and only now when they start to get on there feet again they are faced with having the main route into these towns strangled affecting the companyâs in that area from doing there jobs. We have to remember that although road haulage is an important industry I ainât the only industry. What annoys me about all this is Dover port and eurotunnel are private companyâs and if they where factoryâs or something else causing disruption like these they would have the book thrown at them and billed for the policing ect and told to get there house in order

I was wondering that the other week. When an RTG operator spills their tea, and the port off Felixstowe shuts up shop for a mass game off cards, they sometimes put in their own operation stack. Similar to Kents, but with more Poles
Suffolk Police bill the port for the cost off the operation, Iâve noticed recently that they have tried to keep it with the port more, as the port police are âstaff no costâ, and the Chinese owners must be getting fed up with supporting Suffolk polices Christmas fund

Uzbekistan, like Bradford, but with fewer Mosques
I live near there, drove past it on my way to and from work in Canterbury today.
I think itâs a good idea. The roads have been widened so itâs dual carraigeway now up to the last mile or so.
Obviously moving all the lorries at once would be a nightmare but if this plan was put into action the moment the ferries stop running then I think itâd be fine.
Regarding the NIMBYs, everyone here is of an opinion with you guys: theyâre a vocal minority with only their own interests. They buy houses that are cheaper because theyâre near an airport. Then they moan because thereâs an airport near their house.
Oh, and finally, as for Manston becoming an operating airport again, itâs not going to happen. Itâs gone bust again and again. It canât compete against the massive capacity, ease of use, diversity of destination, etc. of Gatwick or Heathrow.

It might not make a great passenger airport, but it could be an ideal cargo hub, Dual carriageway linking it to the motorway network and closer to the Channel Tunnel than any other airport. I was going in there regularly before it closed last year, most of the people I spoke to felt the owners want it to fail as an airport as they bought it for the land not for the airport and wanted to get the use changed.
But obviously that is from people who were probably about to lose their jobs and therefore werenât great fans of the airport owners, so could be taken with a pinch of salt, be interesting to hear your take on it?

In total there are 2,037 mosques in Uzbekistan.

Turn Manston into the extra airport for London with a high speed rail link running in a tunnel either to meet up with HS 1 or direct into London. Run a second road tunnel under the Thames estuary to link up with the A13 and A127.

Transport aviation would be great for job creation. Everything was set up - as you say the motorway links were all finished. There was also a large engineering facility built next to the airport for jet engine maintenance, (see summit-aviation.co.uk), which I think is going to be hard to operate without aeroplanes so more job losses to come there. Thatâs without mentioning its use as an aeroplane graveyard where they dismantled end-of-life airframes. The problem is it was running at a loss of about ÂŁ10,000 a DAY.
The NIMBYs didnât help the situation by blocking night flights. That stopped any flights after a certain time because if there was the chance of the flight being delayed past a certain time then they couldnât fly to Manston.
Itâs changed hands a couple of times recently. The most recent owners donât want it as an airport. They claim itâll be a movie studio and other such bumpf but believe me itâll be housing. More money for them so they can sell and move on to the next project. A US firm has made some noise about getting a compulsory purchase order so they can re-open the airport but nothingâs happened yet.
As a local person I think its days are numbered. Iâd like to see it open as it would bring growth to the area and also because I wouldnât need to pay for airport parking - I could walk - but I think the chances are low.

It Wundt need a tunnel to meet up with the hs rail it cud simply join it at ebsfleet or ashford and use the existing hs tunnel under the Thames . Any tunnels any Plans for tunneIs much further east of dartford will be way to expensive . did hear years ago due to the age of the runway at manston itâs very high maintenance and costly to upkeep . People need to remember manston is only going to be used when stage 4 of stack comes into play witch has only been done twice in 20 years and then only for Dover bound freight
Just a thought why donât they just use the Whitfield bypass for Dover bound traffic to be qued on and send local traffic thru Whitfield will it not be better to sacrifice one small village close to the problem rather than cause major hold ups to 3 medium size towns up to 40 miles away from the problem

After all the A13 and A127 are vastly under utilised at the moment, so that wont cause any problems what so ever
Dan your right I live in manston,
The bloody village idiots are a pain in the arse!! ,
first they donât want night flights then their moaning about the airport shutting down so they now want to save it , then itâs we donât want the land redeveloped or a high speed train station and now itâs we donât want the lorries,
The idiots donât know what they want or what to moan about next, may be they should flood it with are travelling friends then that would seriously give them something to moan about .

We get a lot of this at Silverstone. People moving in next to a race track then complaining about the noise. We even had one complain that he was there before it was a race track so he shouldnât have to put up with it. My response at a public meeting at which he spoke was that no, it wasnât always a race track, do you prefer the noise of a Bomber Command RAF base then? We could arrange a couple of Lancs to fly all night if you want?

No we are not the only industry, but without ours, no others would work so perhaps a little consideration is in order?
As for the Port of Dover and EuroTunnel, while they are private companies, this problem is not of their making. They are as much victims of the French industrial relations problems as the drivers. Kent police should invoice the French government for Operation Stack. Perhaps then Hollonde would do something about the lazy dock workers. Even the TfL Tube drivers wont cause this much disruption!
