News to night (TANKERS)

On BBC News
The rules on fuel tanker drivers’ hours have been temporarily relaxed to help the transport of supplies to filling stations.
Under EU rules, drivers are limited to nine hours on the road each day, but this has now been raised to 11 hours.
The new rules will apply until Thursday and have been introduced after requests from the fuel supply industry.

So the EU says it’s only safe to drive for 9 hours per day (10 twice a week)

Govenrment panics and says tanker drivers, supposedly one of the most dangerous jobs, can do more.

You couldn’t make it up…

If it was illegal and unsafe yesterday how can it be legal and safe tomorrow?

Well the government have to obey the entities who are the real government of this country. Dodgy Dave isn’t going to risk alienating his and his party’s paymasters.

Won’t somebody think of the Illuminati’s children?

We all know the rules are [zb] anyway, personally i could easily drive 11 hours a day for a temporary period … stop moaning ffs

@happydaze

 Aye I suppose it does read like a conspiracy theory.

It’s the truth tho’

This appears to support the theory. So no need to look after their children they’re safe in their hands.

Phew, I was getting concerned !

Another good example of BS red tape that only applies when it suits them, as the OP said, you couldn’t make it up.

As this BS strike was supposedly over safety can we assume none of them will be taking advantage of the extra hour to clock a bit of OT?

im away everyday next week and have no desire to come home , i will be furious if they screw my week up … truppets they are :sunglasses:

blimey i went off on one then :open_mouth:

If they do the extra hours thats it for me I withdraw my support( I dont think they will be that thick being they talk of strike for safety reasons not money)

Relax hours rules, er am I missing somthing here, I thought the threat of strike action was for lack of safety,if they drive when the hours a relaxed they are thick.

So they were threatening to go on strike over health & safety issues. Now they can drive there perfectly safe tankers for longer while the rest of us have to carry our SAFE loads to the rule book

This country is really screwed up…

Maybe the supermarket drivers should hold the country to ransom too,
about time people realized without trucks the uk would come to a grinding halt.

Rant over.

( only ■■■■■■ off because i had to queue for diesel on way from work )

When i was on the job last time round (fuel protesters not tanker drivers strike) we told the men in gray suites to stuff that idea. as said if during “normal” times the currant regs are to make sure drivers are rested then the relaxation of those regs must surely leave the government open to a class lawsuit if there are any accidents (bet they are covered by law) because they have not had the basic rest period or have driven longer than safely allowed.it’s gonna be something to do with human rights (everything bloody else is) :unamused:

It would of been a nice irony if they were on annualised hours…

My heart is bleeding purple ■■■■ for them.

When the amnesty ends on Thursday I should send everyone one of them to France on General for a couple of days, the French will relieve them of an extra money they earned.

11 hours Monsieur. You will pay

Bloody good idea

Instead of some drivers on this forum sucking sour grapes in regard to tanker drivers, why dont you direct your sarcastic remarks to those who deserve it and who created this mess.
If the relevent info has bypassed you all… check below and the OP. ffs :unamused:

Yes, makes a mockery of their so-called ‘safety issues’ that they are striking about. Any of them who do the extra runs and then have the audacity to go on strike will be treated with the contempt they deserve.
