News to me

At the moment i am a student officer and i am doing traffic this week. I have found something out that shocked me a bit whilst being at Alconbury looking over a lorry as part of our lesson. I found out that even though i have a class 2 licence ( and this also applies to normal car licence holders ) i can drive, and move a class 1, as i am exempt from having one if i need to move one in an emergency.

I was shocked to say at least

So what constitues an emergency?

Ken.

Only if the fifth wheel is removed :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Only kidding, that exemption is older than the hills, but doesn’t apply to non-plod. (no offence intended)

Yes, everyone can drive anything in an emergency. Even somebody with no driving licence at all.

Wouldn’t mean you would actually be able to do it, mind. :wink:

I can not fly a plane, :imp: but if I had to :open_mouth: then I would try. :smiley: Would you not? :question:

depends on whether or not i had a parachute

I would imagine the emergency something along the lines of a hazardous cargo near a dangerous situation and for whatever reason no driver so plod can shift it out the way.

End of shift with Dunkin’ Donuts beckoning

Clocking off…Before anyone REALLY needs Police help.

‘…i am a student officer …’

What sort of ‘…officer…’?

You perhaps assume that we’re psychic?

Maybe because I have difficulty in respecting both EU arrogance re’ their much adhered to manipulations and the methodology of their British Government puppets - and know how they get decent people to do their business, I’m guessing Dibble.

What sort of ‘…COP…’?

C = corporate
O = owned
P = puppet

I can give two examples,

The driver been arrested for something and the truck is causing problems and has goods on the back that are worth a lot of dosh, that’s when the truck gets moved.

or the driver becomes ill and leaves it blocking the road and i move the lorry to a place of safety.

Student Officer = PC

at least it’s a job eh

If that “shocked you a bit”, maybe a career in law enforcement is not for you. How are you going to cope with something that is actually shocking?

I hope this helps.

… and a good one at that. Never short of work, very fair pay + lots of (legit) perks.

Some never aspire to rise above PC as they like to be out n about rather than desk bound to paperwork and don’t want the increased responsibility.

Wish you well with your career MB. Some here, for their own reasons, have a problem with anyone in a position of authority. 2 weeks at boot camp would probably help! :laughing:

How interesting going out with traffic. As I’ve said before on here, I would love to have been a traffic cop.

I can’t put it into post with what i have seen in my job but i can give you a tip.

Theres a road that i avoid unless i am told to go that way, and that’s due to a bad fatal i witnessed and was first at scene at ( when i was a PCSO ). I know the names and reg numbers of the cars involved till this day and that was 4 years ago.

What i mean by ‘shocked’ was that i thought i would be breaking the LAW if i moved an arctic in an emergency. That’s all

Cheers for that driver and to be honest, i am going to be one of them PC’s, never wanting to be a Sgt. I am proactive and like to get stuck into things, not an office bod

A copper once had to drive my truck off the motorway. He was in the cab for about 5 minutes revving the ■■■■ off it before he came back asking where the handbrake was. And judging by the speed he was doing in lane 1 he couldn’t find high range either.

I wouldn’t mind but he’d only just finished giving me a lecture about safe driving. :unamused: Two faced ■■■■■.

so nipping a load down to tescos for us thats urgent doesn’t constitute an emergency
