News to me

mickyblue:

fingers:
so nipping a load down to tescos for us thats urgent doesn’t constitute an emergency

jonboy

I think you lost the point lol

if the back load was doughnuts i think he would be ok !!!

Old bill are a complete waste of time end of! No pig would move a lorry if they didnt have a license regardless of any exemption because they’d be sacked for gross misconduct due to not having carried out any form of training.

Example, remember when those two pcso’s let them kid/kids drown because they hadnt had swimming lessons so couldn’t jump in the river. To think this clown show we call the Police are actually paid.

Your opinion.

Believe it or not but some officers have HGV C and C+E but they could always leave the truck there and hold people up for hours, then you would be on here mouthing off about it :stuck_out_tongue:

Do a bit of research on that and you will find out that the two kids were already under water an hour before they got there.

Mickey, sometimes I wonder why you bother, mate :unamused: There’s always someone with the ACAB attitude to jump on your case - tossers in my opinion, the same as “all lorry drivers are fat prostitute murdering ■■■■■■■■■■
I was surprised at that - I thought that only Class One Police Drivers could move things like trucks and motorbikes. Makes sense though in the scenarios you mention…

In an emergency anyone can do whatever is necessary to save life or property but as with everyone else if you made the situation worse you’d have to justify your actions to the courts.

mickyblue:

Quinny:
So what constitues an emergency?

Ken.

I can give two examples,

The driver been arrested for something and the truck is causing problems and has goods on the back that are worth a lot of dosh, that’s when the truck gets moved.

or the driver becomes ill and leaves it blocking the road and i move the lorry to a place of safety.

Student Officer = PC

Thats not an Emergency, and as you could destroy Lorry and Good is it dangerous too.
Its enough to stay there and secure them.
Emergency is normally anything bringing Life of any in Danger.High Explosive on a Vehicle parked in a City,or a Vehicle bloking Way of Emergency Vehicles or Helicopter Landing Place,Yes.But that can do anyone who is able to do it.No court would sentence you if you safe a Town, but they will roast you on a small Fire if you destroy high valuables.
Otherwise i would recomment to phone next Agency. They are here for that,or a HGV Driver is in a Car stuck in traffic near you

Sad…

Problem with all this stuff is common sense went out the window years ago time matey boy did his 15 min walk around check etc then did a risk assesment the emergency well that would be over   :unamused: :unamused:

    Do all HGV drivers who drive cars have stickers on there windows saying what job they do?

So true. If only we could rewind and go back a few years when he were able to use it

That’s right. Anyone can do anything to help others in an emergency.

I was once stuck behind a car broken down in lane 2 on the A1139 and at the same time a swan landed in lane 1. Well i couldn’t of thanked the two lorry drivers enough who blocked both lanes for me because if they didn’t there would of been a big crash that day.

No, but if he’s wearing a hi-viz in the car it’s worth a punt!

I have read on the DVLA under the driving licence section that a police constible can more a HGV (any catorgy) from a position where is is creating a hazard to other road users to a safe location
just found the link

direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Dr … DG_4022499

-goods vehicle driven by a constable for the purpose of removing or avoiding obstruction to other road users or other members of the public, for the purpose of protecting life or property (including the vehicle and its load) or for other similar purposes

Cheers for the link

mickyblue:
At the moment i am a student officer and i am doing traffic this week. I have found something out that shocked me a bit whilst being at Alconbury looking over a lorry as part of our lesson. I found out that even though i have a class 2 licence ( and this also applies to normal car licence holders ) i can drive, and move a class 1, as i am exempt from having one if i need to move one in an emergency.

I was shocked to say at least

Bit like coppers who see someone drowning in a lake. They’re probably shocked to find out after the event, that they can swim in and save the poor blighter. (notwithstanding high viz, boots, helmet, h&s executive etc)

Can’t wait 'till you’re fully qualified, will sleep soundly then.

Can i ask you something. What the hell as that go to do with moving an HGV in an emergency?

Oh can i suggest you read other post’s to please, above may be answered.

‘…common sense went out the window years ago…’

‘…So true. If only we could rewind and go back a few years when he were able to use it…’

Surely no law exists to suggest that reasoned sense cant be applied to any situation when done with best intent :exclamation:

The point you’re perhaps missing is that such sense is no-longer ‘common’ to everyone in today’s society - what with values no longer being common to all folk, etc,

It doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ve all gotta bleat into our beer about the olden days being brilliant and that today we are lead by idiots (the EU & their UK State sponsored puppets excepted, obviously)

Common sense is used but not as much as we are allowed to, but it is slowly going back to the ways is used to be

‘…Common sense is used but not as much as we are allowed to, but it is slowly going back to the ways is used to be…’

I respect that you’re doing the best with the resources available & with often strangling protocols to be observed and practised, etc, but who are the people with the ‘…sense…’ that you suggest is ‘…common…’?

Everyone

We’re all different :exclamation: So how can the ‘common’ theme accurately apply to everyone (and that’s a lot of people) …or are folk only recruited if they ‘think’ in the:

mickyblue:
‘…ways is used to be…’

I accept that some may see this as splitting hairs - but given this PC, post-modern & diverse age, hasn’t it largely done away with ‘common’ values - as evidenced by a lot of folk seeming to be at each others throats these days?

i think it would be more fun, if all these coppers got the chance to trash an artic round a track.
not a test as such, but a bunch of drivers, and a bunch of coppers having the craic.
it could sort out a few things as they go through there careers. (mutual respect).

Not sure about trash (thrash?) but to experience driving one, yes, good idea Phil.
