Long time lurker here so will first of all say thanks for all the info I picked up here that helped me ace my C in June 2010, these forums are an absolute godsend.
I was lucky enough to have my C paid for through work but they feel they wont use C+E so this is entirely self-funded which I really dont mind as its a path I want to follow.
I start my C+E with Jim Mair Driver Training tomorrow and I am really looking forward to it but I have one problem⦠NERVES
I was lucky enough to step straight into Class 2 vehicles (18T skips and 12T Box) and have drove them daily since but as soon as I think about this week my rear end is in tatters even after having a good assessment (was offered the test on 3rd day but chose to do the 5 days)
Any advice more than appreciated and I`ll let yous know how I get on through the week
you will be fine once you get going , just take it easy and listen to instructor good luck
try rescue remedy a little herbal remedy you can pick it up anywhere local supermarkets or chemist helped me a bit with nerves , might be a placeebo but if it helps
I would also just like to say āGood Luckā with your C+E training.
As the others have said, Iām sure you will be absolutely fine once you get going and realise it isnāt as half bad as you might expect. The only bit that concerned me before doing mine was the reversing side of things but after doing it for the first time I found that I really enjoyed it! Ok, we arenāt all perfect and donāt get things perfect everytime, but when you realise you can do it without any real major problems it gives you a great boost and you will get that as well Iām sure.
So, donāt worry about it too much, just try and enjoy it as you will only be doing this once you know! Because after you pass the test, you will never have to do another one!

Hi mate, where you at?
I just recently passed my C with Jim Mair, nice to see someone around from what should be the same area. Iām also about to sit my CE with him too. Would be interested to know which company you walked into a job with as Iām really really struggling to find anywhere mate.
I worked with the place (CCL North) for 2 years in vans before getting the opportunity to be put through my C so brought up through the ranks so to speak lol. I know they run the 25+ insurance patter though so don`t know if that helps you or not.

Thanks for the replies guys/gals
ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā to that then mate as Iām 18.
Stick around here anyway and hopefully see a diary from you. Theyāre a good bunch of lads at Jimās as you will know.
Turned up this morning and I had a full day of 1-1⦠Jesus I`m knackered
Got a few habits I need to get rid of that Ive picked up in my time in the Cs so I`d deffo advise anyone if possible just to do both back to back, wish I did now.
I made a mess of reversing the first 2 times and nailed it the other twice so not so bad in that department. Done the coupling/uncoupling and again no worries there.
Just hope I can shake these habits and get the positioning a bit better at the smaller roundabouts or think I`ll be in trouble come Friday lol.
Mirrors and blind spots are a weakness for many. Donāt worry. You will have moments where throwing the towel in seems a good option. And you will have moments where it all comes together and wonder what all the fuss is about.
