Newbie - Starting C+E Tomorrow :s (Pass 27/1/12)

Hi there

Long time lurker here so will first of all say thanks for all the info I picked up here that helped me ace my C in June 2010, these forums are an absolute godsend.

I was lucky enough to have my C paid for through work but they feel they wont use C+E so this is entirely self-funded which I really dont mind as its a path I want to follow.

I start my C+E with Jim Mair Driver Training tomorrow and I am really looking forward to it but I have one problem… NERVES

I was lucky enough to step straight into Class 2 vehicles (18T skips and 12T Box) and have drove them daily since but as soon as I think about this week my rear end is in tatters even after having a good assessment (was offered the test on 3rd day but chose to do the 5 days)

Any advice more than appreciated and I`ll let yous know how I get on through the week

Thanks again people

Good luck with it. Everybody is nervous when they do it, it all disappears when you get going as the adrenaline kicks in.

Good luck

It’s like a wedding, never too late to do a runner. :sunglasses:

Hi there KiLty!

I would also just like to say ā€˜Good Luck’ with your C+E training.

As the others have said, I’m sure you will be absolutely fine once you get going and realise it isn’t as half bad as you might expect. The only bit that concerned me before doing mine was the reversing side of things but after doing it for the first time I found that I really enjoyed it! Ok, we aren’t all perfect and don’t get things perfect everytime, but when you realise you can do it without any real major problems it gives you a great boost and you will get that as well I’m sure.

So, don’t worry about it too much, just try and enjoy it as you will only be doing this once you know! Because after you pass the test, you will never have to do another one!

All the best! :sunglasses:

Good luck and let us know how you progress though the days mini diary time :sunglasses:

Hi mate, where you at?

I just recently passed my C with Jim Mair, nice to see someone around from what should be the same area. I’m also about to sit my CE with him too. Would be interested to know which company you walked into a job with as I’m really really struggling to find anywhere mate.

Sam

I`m down in Irvine Sam

I worked with the place (CCL North) for 2 years in vans before getting the opportunity to be put through my C so brought up through the ranks so to speak lol. I know they run the 25+ insurance patter though so don`t know if that helps you or not.

Thanks for the replies guys/gals

You will be fine once you start just remember to listen to your instructor & ask any questions if in doubt as that is what you are paying for

Don’t do it, save yourself a fortune and years of stress

ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  to that then mate as I’m 18.

Stick around here anyway and hopefully see a diary from you. They’re a good bunch of lads at Jim’s as you will know.

best of luck, relax and enjoy the ride

How did it go on your first day

Turned up this morning and I had a full day of 1-1… Jesus I`m knackered

Got a few habits I need to get rid of that Ive picked up in my time in the Cs so I`d deffo advise anyone if possible just to do both back to back, wish I did now.

I made a mess of reversing the first 2 times and nailed it the other twice so not so bad in that department. Done the coupling/uncoupling and again no worries there.

Just hope I can shake these habits and get the positioning a bit better at the smaller roundabouts or think I`ll be in trouble come Friday lol.

Such an eye opener today that`s for sure.

Will post back tomorrow if I have any soul left

Not bad for a first day by the sounds of things.

Most people have bad habits. Remember back to your first day of C training. I bet you had a few as did we all.

Well done on getting a start on the reverse and coupling. It shows you are progressing well to be doing that all on day 1.

Good luck for the rest of the week. Don’t worry if you get a bad day.

Keep us posted.

Dean

Really hope today was my ā€œbad dayā€ Dar as I got home feeling right gutted about the stupid little mistakes.

I just let myself slip in the mirror department I think and I have told myself I`ll get used to the positioning before the weeks out… I hope

Mirrors and blind spots are a weakness for many. Don’t worry. You will have moments where throwing the towel in seems a good option. And you will have moments where it all comes together and wonder what all the fuss is about.

For day 1 it seems like you have achieved a lot.

Well done

You have done well for day one mate… who did you have? Is it 1-1 all week ?

Did he take you down to the little burger van in irvine? haha

I had Gary Sam, think hes the man for C+E now that Harrys gone. Harsh but extremely fair as I knew I had done it 9 times outta 10

Im out with another fella tomorrow as hes on for another resit on Thursday so should take a little pressure off I hope.

Nah stayed in Kilmarnock for lunch mate. If you were in Irvine for yours I think it might have been the one at my work in Meadowhead Ind Est?

Cheers for the spurring on guys, tomorrows another day and another bawz kicking I suppose
