Newbie - Starting C+E Tomorrow :s (Pass 27/1/12)

KiLty:
I had Gary Sam, think hes the man for C+E now that Harrys gone. Harsh but extremely fair as I knew I had done it 9 times outta 10

Im out with another fella tomorrow as hes on for another resit on Thursday so should take a little pressure off I hope.

Nah stayed in Kilmarnock for lunch mate. If you were in Irvine for yours I think it might have been the one at my work in Meadowhead Ind Est?

Cheers for the spurring on guys, tomorrows another day and another bawz kicking I suppose

No mate the one just off Shewalton Road at Brewster plc.

I know the one “passed it” a few times

Sounds to me like you had a very good first day , just remember if anyone could drive a lorry we wouldnt need training and thats what its there for to teach you how to drive it , so on first day expect to have a few things to iron out and the mistakes made this week will teach not to make them on your test , enjoy the rest of week sounds like you will be fine

Too late, the priest has started with the dearly beloved and no- one has stood up with any lawfull impediment why you shouldn’t, all there is to do now is kiss the bride and sign the register.

This is our England now.

Meant to say mate, if you see an idiot frantically flashing at the artic in a black astra with a private plate, it’s me

Hopefully not on his test day :open_mouth:

Hi kilty, i also did my training at jims all the guys are fantastic there, not to mention fiona in the office who answered all my queries when i first rang up about training there  I managed to pass both c and c+e say hi to gary for me, i still keep in touch with gary as im sure hes never had anyone struggle with reverse the way i did and still do sometimes!!!
Best of luck with your training and for your test

Sorry for not updating the last few days was cream crackered when I got in and my laptop was the last thing on my mind

Tuesday
Had a complete and total nightmare in the morning and was ready for throwing the towel in, no joke . It came together a bit more in the afternoon and I taught myself they were “my” mistakes and only I could fix them so no real dramas the rest of the afternoon thankfully.

Wednesday
The guy who was up for a 4th resit was up for 1st drive so great I had a chance to listen and relax the 1st hour.
My turn now… Reverse = perfect! Really hope I pull this off on Friday. Now off we go onto the road and my theory has pulled off and Im a lot more relaxed thank god. I look over to check a left mirror and my fellow student is playing about on the internet on his phone (the guys just not interested, company paying everything and his 2nd instructor gave up after 2nd test due to attitude).

Now I make a left at the lights after the Odeon in Kilmarnock and I hear sirens, cool start finding a place to pull in a let them bye. I see the 4x4 behind me but Oh No, not going past the bugger is getting OUT and coming for my door. “Driver can you find a safe and convenient place to pull up on the left please”

CRAP

My bumhole at this point is pretty much resembling a Wizards Sleeve as I try and negotiate one of the tightest circuits on the test route and still clueless as to why plod is pulling me.
Finally gets a place to pull over about 3 streets and several tight roundabouts later. Plod opens the passenger side and asks who the instructor is, yip Mr. Not Interested has caused the pull and they just wanted to make sure who the instructor was due to one of the passengers being on the telephone. Im calling the copper for everything and all the git did was laugha nd said "dont worry about it you took those turns fine".
Instructor explained situation with my fellow student and we were back on our way… theres your keys Gary Im driving nowhere til I calm down
Stopped for something to eat and I told my fellow student he was an ignorant/ungrateful ■■■■■

Thursday
My fellow student is up for test number 4 so I meet the lorry at the test centre.
Don`t even need to ask how he got on as he comes storming across the yard calling the examiner for everything
Good riddance…

I think it`s finally came together, confidence is up and my instructor is quiet during my 3 drives today. Actually looking forward to tomorrow now as I know I can do it and only a stupid mistake will let me down

Will post with result tomorrow guys/gals as I`m up at 8.15am, wish me luck

PMSL   I tooted the horn going past the test centre the other day mate canny remember which day though. 0815 tomorrow, I’ll wish you luck mate. If you’re going through Dreghorn remember that dreaded 20 sign that flashes and hidden out of sight.

My bumhole at this point is pretty much resembling a Wizards Sleeve

I like that one,     kilty…guess i,ve been out the UK too long and miss the humour !!    really enjoyed reading your post and glad the other bloke blew it  Wish ya all the best for tommorow, take ya time, stay cool :sunglasses: you,ll be fine

PMSL!!! Oh, that was great mate. It really was! :sunglasses:

Anyway, on a serious note. Don’t do what I done on my first C+E test. I felt good about everything, done the reversing no problems, then done the uncoupling & coupling no problems and finally performed well on drive and yet I had (without knowing it at the time) failed before I had even left the test centre as I had failed to show the examiner that I checked the parking brake was ON on the trailer before doing the recouple!

Stay calm, enjoy it and it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t go right. All the very best of luck mate.

You will be going through it now so fingers crossed

Jenx

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!

Passed with 6 minors guys, delighted is an understatement!

Started off with the worst reverse in the history of reversing but somehow managed to correct it on the way across and took 2 for that and I really did think I had blown it there. Listened to the advice of just forget your mistakes and move on. So glad I did

Big thanks to Gary @ Jim Mair DriverTraining, training was second to none from the Big Man that I have to say and would recommend these guys every day of the week. How he managed to put up with my nerves all week I`ll never know

… and Thanks to all the people who`ve provided all the little snips of advice on these forums, again a godsend.

Now all that`s left is to find my ride and learn to drive these things for real now

Cheers all!

Si

:sunglasses: Congratulations, now the hard work really begins and that wait for the post to come with your new licence :sunglasses:

Huge congratulations on the pass today it sure is a nice feeling to hear those words!!

Wooo! Well done mate! Chuffed for ya.

Fantastic. Bet you glad you put that reverse to the back of your mind

Not a bad score either with 2 minors on that reverse.

The grin will be on that face for a while.

Well done Kilty, congrats on the pass, rock and roll !!

I got married last year and have 2 little uns, sad as it sounds I don’t think I’ve ever been as nervous in my life as I was this morning.

I know how lucky I was to get through it first time especially as I was self-funding.

What a relief honestly lol

Well done - great news! Pete
