Newbie here- worst A road in Scotland, your thoughts?

Hey everyone ,
You could call me a newbie. Had my class 1 for 14 years but was out the game for around 8 uears but been back driving full time for 5 weeks now .

Anyway, enough of that, what so you guys consider the worst A road in Scotland to drive?
Answer could be based on traffic , road condition, boring, dangerous

Your thoughts appreciated

The worst would be the A9 Perth to Inverness stretch for all of the above reasons.

A9.
got to have the worst record.
but got to have the best views. used to hate it in a coach or truck,
but love it in a car!

A82 between carnwarth and galashiels is a nasty ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  in an artic for a newbie.

As stated above on paper the A9 is the worst no doubt, but I love that road it’s views when the sun is out are ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  stunning. Most if not all of the deaths on that road are due to drivers errors not the road itself IMO.

Worst road I’ve come across so far was the road u take to Fort William, heading from one of the saw mills with a 45ft container loaded with wood back down to Grangemouth. Was such a challenging drive for a newbie like me, twisty and steep as ā– ā– ā– ā–  on the way up Glen Nevis(not sure what the hills/mountains are called surrounding that area)? And ā– ā– ā–  twitching coming back down the other side on a wet road hesitating with the retarder and not wanting to fade breaks only had to do that once maybe won’t be so bad the second time lol…

A75, I hate it with a passion. As part of a Euro-route, it’s pants.
And it’s haunted, apparently…

A9 in general

A82 between Tarbert and Inveruglas.

You need to buy yourself a new map if the A82 runs between Carnwath and Galasheils on yours.:sunglasses::lol::lol:

Its that 40MPH makes it the pants with sneaky unmark BMWs hiding in bushes
The A77 from boat till maybole is disaster of a road for main route from cairnryan heading north.

A801 Linlithgow ā€˜jump’. Bloody awful at the top of the drop. Impossible to see any traffic on your left when heading back to the M8.

A836/a837 Tain to Ledmore junction. Had to reverse a few times when meeting trucks coming the other way.

A75.M6 to Dumfries and back.Dangerous as if you stick to 40 mph on the S/C ¿ it may cause an accident as tempers flare and the queue behind take a gamble and risk overtaking in to oncoming traffic.
If go over 40 mph.The risk of a chat with a police officer in an unmarked car.The drivers heading up to the ferry or coming off it seem to be full speed ahead.Get out of my way.I am getting past.
In some sections it seems they are building new dual carriagways.
And to add. There is a haunted feeling on that road.Sleepy Hollow with Johhny Depp and the headless horseman comes to mind.
Alone on the road is spooky. With mist and fog you imagine bad things.

For me all of Scotland is a zb hole, all because of the people…:frowning::(:frowning:

Pimpdaddy you really have a problem

3 years ago! My first ever trip in an artic was to Campbelltown from north Wales!
Was a piece of cake thought I’d cracked it till I got to tarbet on the A82 then I would have to say the next 2 / 3 hours where the worst I have ever had! Ha ha! For all the reasons you have mentioned!

Although I went back a few months after with a bit more exp behind me and I tell you what you will struggle to find a road with better scenery than that anywhere in Europe!

Far from it, they are more diverse & open minded here in the south, the weather is better & we speak properly-#ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–

Many of the ā€œA Roadsā€ in Glasgow but for me in particular is the Diversion route for when the Erskine Bridge is shut, The A82, I hate it and more so on a school day with rush hour thrown in for good measure.

You catch one set of lights and you catch them all, continuously having to swap lanes as they change priority and the round-a-bouts are just awkward and poorly designed.

Love driving in the Highlands, just wish I could be up that way more
