New Truck Park - Glasgow

£10 parking & a free shower I would consider a fair price. I park in a general haulage yard & the guy there pays his men a tenner & no more, you’ll clean up round Glasgow its been crying out for something since Lesmahagow shut up shop.

As for food Glasgows not exactly got any Michelin Stars so some wholesome home made nosebag would be sensible to tempt folks in, I’m a big fan of Stockyard & their carvery style meals, you could do worse than have a shufty at their set up, oh & proper good quality coffee in a morning non of that nasty instant stuff.

Good luck to you Chap I’ll be sure to creep in & give you a go when I’m heading north.

Good clean showers.
A healthy variety on the menu rather than a Cholesterol busting menu.

Try to go for quality of service over quantity of vehicle you can squeeze in.

Can you have a pinned map of exactly where you are? I’ll be up in Motherwell in the not too distant future on business and will pop up for a look-see and bite to eat if you’re doing food already(?)

Nope.

The warehouse on site is whats being converted into facilities for everyone so it’s going to take a couple of months to be built etc.

Along with that, some of the land is going to take a couple of months to get sorted so the current plan is to open up the tar/gravel yard to a smaller amount of wagons and have a canteen van on site with basic toilets available for people (We’re only 2mins from the town centre anyway).

But once the insides are open, you enter into a reception area, left for toilets/showers and right to the drivers room/pool/tv/vending machines.

Canteen and everything else will be gradually built onto this.

In total we’re spending around £100,000 on the place so there is a lot of work and good facilities going into it. But for the time being, it’s a yard with cameras, security and plenty of barbed wire fencing for a good nights kip and basic eating facilities.

Im trying to get the website pushed through to be live over the next couple of days too!

Still waiting for a mod to make this a sticky

Put Bulmers or ■■■■■ in the title you’ll get a mod quicker that way

Just made me pish myself reading that :grimacing:

With all due respect, what exactly makes you think that this thread deserves pinned status? Yes it’s very good to have a new truck stop in the pipes but I’m not seeing anything special here. The guy who took over Ross on Wye truck stop didn’t ask for or receive pinned status for his thread so I don’t see any reason why you should either, unless you’re planning on paying RBI for the advertising space. :bulb:

Still waiting for a link to the location of it.

I’m waiting for a link to a map too, since I overnight in Glasgow regularly…

Ps. No, this won’t be stickied, for the reasons Rob has saved me from having to state. Thanks!

In fairness, why not? I’ts giving drivers a chance to express their views on what they would like to see and give it 24 hours, this post will be on page 3 or 4. Therefore meaning that some will not see it.

Follow Woodilee Road until you see a long layby, we own the layby and all the land to the left of it. The large concrete patch and building are what will become the truck park.

Sadly, Google hasn’t been updated to show the new motorways running along side it!

Why not? Because it’s not fair on those who DO pay.

.

I haven’t deleted it,have I? Or the other similar threads about other parts of the country? No. It’s here, it’s doing it’s thing, just don’t take the ■■■■ and expect me to sticky it, that’s all. It’s called a compromise.

It’ll stay on page one as long as people are interested enough to keep replying. After that there’d be no point in it being a sticky anyway, as it would have reached it’s natural end.

if if starts to drop off the first page it will probably be best to move it to the Overnight Parking forum so everybody will be able to find it.

But to be fair all the adverts on this site are for total pish, stuff i never use in my puff. At least this guys venture is for truck drivers a service to us all, one which we should see gets the best start in life. But if this site isnt behind getting more truckstops then it makes you wonder :open_mouth:

got to be honest, i agree with this!

its nice to see someone having a go at a new business venture, i know its early days, but hopefully it could turn into something really good, and will be a big benefit for truck drivers, good luck

Good idea Dennis, I never realised we had that forum!

Lucy, it was only a question. If the answer is no, then it’s no. Don’t get what you don’t ask for.

It’s not going to be a mega sized park with all the facilities of a motorway service station, but park up and be met by security who will take payment/details then do as you wish. Sleep or walk around the building into the reception, left is toilets and showers and right is the cafe. Walk through the cafe and it’s the drivers lounge. Pool, TV, vending machines and your sorted.

No fancy shizzle, just decent looking place, decent food and a small friendly place to park up. I can safely say the chances of Pik**s or thiefs getting in are slim as there are two gates in and out, both manned and the fencing is bomb proof.

There is a hand car wash opening on monday that is big enough to cope with HGV’s which will be a bonus too!

To be fair, yes im in this for money making (duh) but im doing this for fellow drivers too, I’ve made myself skint plenty of times at MSA’s and considering there is no truck parking other than the M74 and the nearest to us is Stirling, this will benefit the driver.

tosh
we need good parking so why not sticky it an same goes for other threads
:unamused: :unamused:

Wht not have a variety of parking charges…ie…

£10 parking only
£11 or £12 parking including shower
£15 parking shower and meal voucher.

Our boss will pay the parking charge regardless of any vouchers so we usually go for the one with the voucher and he then pays for our dinner

As has been said, good fresh cooked, reasonably priced and portioned food is essential. Just provide anything with chips and drivers will stop, but only once or twice.

Decent opening hours, maybe not 24 hour initially but you should be open minimum 0600 to 2100.

Toilets should be accesible 24/7.

Small shop selling usual convenience stuff plus a few toiletries and over the counter medicines would be an asset.

Finally I wish you all the best of luck with your new venture.

£10 for parking and shower and for those of us who get it back £17- £20 for parking shower and food all we want is CLEAN showers, sinks, toilets, and decent food, think of your house and thats how clean we want it and if you are any good you should clean up as there is nowhere up there to park, apart from secret locations that will never be given out
