Hii and welcome to the forum to share your experience, information, ideas and options.

Stay connected.

hi guys,
good news i passed with 95% on the mod 4…and not as bad as i thought it would b. where i took it in poole was very simple and straight forward.

the questions of the top of my head was:

where would you load pelletised paper and what restraining device would you use

where might you park your vehicle at night and what security checks would you do

youve just had a comfort break what checks would you make before crossing a border

your parked up at the side of the road how would you enter the vehicle and what checks would you make and how would you exit the vehicle

and what daily check would you make.

for many of these question i was going into too much detail for him majority of the time he would say i dont need to know that its nto on my list! especially the las daily check question it was alot easier than i imagined! so just sent off my d777 for my digicard then hopefully off to work…may have a job opportuntiy with williams shipping in southampton if not going to try the agencies but unfortunatly cant give me full time work.

cheers
jimmy

congrats on the passes mate.
i passed my cat c first time on the 13th of this month. got my CPC module 4 next friday in bristol and cant wait to get it over and done with. do you get to drive the truck to the test center? the training company im using is Fast Track lgv. their customer services is some what to be desired but they do offer a good deal with the pass protection insurance. it cost £249 for it but if i pass everything first time i get the money back. for agency work try driver hire. they seemed pretty positive when i spoke to them.
well done once again!

completly agree with you i was going with them but ■■■■■■ me about far tom much so changed to martin hopkins ionly have to pay the £55 test fee and traing was cheaper than fast track

no you dont as far as im aware only learners are only insured and as weve passed we wouldnt qualify is there some where on this forum which lists any driver agencies for the south im not going to apply until i have my digicard

For agency try your local yellow pages as there not a list on here of them

cheers animal just had a quick look n there are a few just sent off for my digicard i want it to comeback already im champing at the bit to get driving but i can see the climb has just started i hope i get more than adhoc as i have a family to look after!! hopefully my cv will do well at williams fingers crossed!

im also waiting or my digi card to come back. sent off for it last week. where abouts are you? try driver hire. i spoke to the bristol one yesterday and they seemed quite positive. they do take on new drivers and they said to me they understand how hard it is for new drivers to get work. also what i have done is send a cover letter and c.v to local logistic companys around my area. some companys will take on new drivers because they see it as we havent had chance to get any bad habbits and will be easier train up and more cautious to hazzards. hope this helps

Sounds very similar to the ‘company’ I’m unfortunately using - Highway HGV. I’ve had a terrible time with them.

It’s just the customer service that’s letting them down. The training was excellent and they paid for me to stay in a hotel where I was doing my training at no extra charge. Also they gave me 6 hrs extra training free because my first test was cancelled because of the snow.

well this week is dragging! i just want my digicard now!!! i have another 9 days atleast yet! well tomorrow is d day ill find out from williams if its a yay or nay they told me to ring them if i havent heard anything by mid day but from what ive heard on the grapevine they seem keen so i hope the grapevine is right!!!

i just want my digicard now!!!

same here mate, im waiting for myne aswell. been a week now since i sent off for it. how did you pay for it? bacause i have checked my bank and they havent cashed the cheque yet. funny though because i renewed my car tax on monday online and the tax disc turned up this morning strange how they can process thing quicker than others. i would have thought it would have been the other way around. the amount of people renewing their car tax vs people wanting a digi tacho.

well clint i was going to do a cheque but then realised it may take days to cash so went with the trusty postal orders. got my application thru for robert wisemans today going to post it off so they get it monday as i havent heard from williams and agencies not looking too promising im nt as lucky as u to be in employment so i gotta get a job fast but i hate waiting im even dreaming about driving a ■■■■ truck!!! just wanna be on the road!

Remember when I applied for mine it only took about a week & I done a cheque ( or the local economical development did )

Well lads posted my digi tacho application last thurs pm and was very supprised when my shiny new card landed on the mat this morning. Just gotta do the cpc mod 4 next week then send off to get my licence updated. Hopefully they are super quick at returning that to me aswell.

got my application thru for robert wisemans today going to post it off so they get it monday

Which depot you applying for? Have you read my topic wiseman drivers? Have been told the depot I have applied at they are screaming out for drivers because the shifts on offer are crap. Between 1-5 am starts. They would have got my application form yesterday so just a case of waiting now. Hope u get some luck in finding some work mate
