New Stobart Trucks

My 420 has been badged wrong. Its really a 240 :frowning:
Bag of crap kin heap of poop it is  Theres only a 40bhp difference between it and my old volvo but it seems vast!

ellies dad:
I thought they only had r420 Scanias. Bit low on power compared to the rest id say!!!

I`d say powerwise your absolutely spot on!

lgamston:

A bloke called richard from the west country had that from new on international work. The last i heard he was on for an irish firm (possibly maguires? anyone got a pic?)

Blue Stobarts are indeed Stobart Rail/ WA developments, I regularly do work on same sites as these guys.

Stobart Rail engines run a LOAD of containers thru Rugby area, obviously due to DIRFT, have seen some interesting containers on the back of these trains, to name a few, Tescos, Morrisons, Asda, these seem to be a mix of containers and demountable bodies, some ambient and some with fridges? Malcolms containers, and another trucking company, cant think of the name of it, purple livery…■■■■ thats gonna pee me off now!!!

Stobarts are taking an interest in a few areas its called diversifying and as much as we all hate it it’s the only way companies can survive.

would the purple containers be russells from scotland?

Thats it RUSSELLS!!!

Should have remembered that i have got a jack russell!!!

Looking at the pic id say it was just the same cab as the old 4 series which sits a bit lower than the newer R series, I never had any problems with having a week away in that cab, and id gladly swap the XF auto i drive now for the G model Scania.

Thanks Neal, the voice of reason at last  It’s the same cab with a bit more plastic on the front.

Stobart rail don’t run any of their own trains, they are like the subbies motor(s) in this thread - run by another company (DRS which is state owned BTW) with their loco - there is only 1 i think - painted in Stobart colours or a version of them. DRS also have a locomotive painted in malcolm’s livery too.

i have seen the stobart loco once and it looks pretty good.

Choo Choo

I’ll just slip on my anorak…

DRS now has two locos in Stobart livery - with the newest engine (66414 for anyone whos interested) having “Tesco Rail” on one side and “Stobart Rail” on the other. Does this now mean that Tescos are running rail services through Stobart who in turn run them through DRS

Also, while on the subject of Stobart Trailers - I saw one of the new chilled trailers (hauled by a R420 Highline - the lowest spec Scanny you can really use  ) on my local patch yesterday ( :imp: ) and it was advertising “Stobart Multimodal” with what looked like a new logo design on the rear (I was trying to keep my eyes on the road so i dunno )

Stobarts have the contract to ship a lot of the tesco stuff to the rail hubs in scotland and russells deliver it from there…the logo on the back of the new chill trailers is just advertising multi modal transport…

Anorak off now

Most of the underepresented marques are run by the subbies,The Stralis was a 4x2 and as far as I`m aware does euro stuff and is based in Carlisle he even had an air con unit on the roof.
There was one Merc I knew of based at Carnforth, alloy wheels and bling,he did the traction for the superbike team when Stobart sponsered a bike.
I drove a Topline for a subby based at Penrith that had been used on the Kosovo job for the Naafi

I see Stobart Rail trailers in Tesco colours all the time when I’m on my way to work. On the subject of cabs if you’re tramping you need a big cab, if your doing single shift work all you need is a low cab with a bunk in it. Most of our rigids are day cab and I find if I’ve got a sleeper then I’m far more relaxed after my break because I can get out of the seat and lie down.
