Sorry fella but I am with Kenny in this one. What possible reason would the have to go flat out on the DC sections (which is speeding) instead of letting others go? I have worked for companies who enforced speed limits up there and fair enough. I pulled in to let traffic go and when I reached a DC I would continue at 40 for a while to let the wagons pass then get up 50. A bit of courtesy is safer all round. If these guys want to go full pelt then it is in my best interests to help rather than hinder them

Maybe it’s just me being naive then, but I would think (or at least like to think) that no HGV driver would ever deliberately try, or intend, to make another driver have an accident
I just think that the the 40 A road/limiter dual carriageway thing is just inconsiderate and incompetent driving rather than anything malicious.
If what you and your mate say is true, things are worse amongst us drivers than what I thought

Anyone know if the trolley dollies are under instructions to keep to the old 40mph limit on single carriageways? .
Strangely frustrating, but I’ve not seen any Tesco lorries on SCways since the limit was raised. I think their limiters are still set to 50 though, but I reckon with the new limits the drivers’ aren’t afraid of a runaway to 51 as they don’t seem to be doing 45 anymore on dcways. I’ve also seen a couple of their trailers with the patronising “taking your safety seriously” stickers blatantly removed.
I’ve certainly seen Sainsburys’ doing 50 on scways.

Think its a mixture of both, but is pretty obvious someone is at it when they are 35mph on a single carriageway road but because suddenly there is an overtaking lane for a mile they are flat to the mat even tho they are still in a 40mph limit for HGV’s. There is a minority who get a sick delight out of doing that, don’t think they are trying to cause accidents but no doubt that kinda thing has led to accidents.
Tesco drivers never seemed to bad to me on the A9 they would sit at 40mph but would stay at 40mph on the dual carriageway to let people by and at times when massive Q’s would pull into a layby just to let people get past.
When you work for a company like Tescos for example you are one accident from the sack. Due to their high profile and obsession with customer image, any bump involving a tesco lorry gets more highlighting. So to preserve this image,if there is a chance of any negativity they will chuck the driver under the bus before you can say “wasnt my fault”. Therefor they keep the speed down to avoid any chance of a bump.
Thats my theory anyway. But listening to some of them whinging at the RDC in Livingston, maybe some of them do hang it out in some sort of protest against the higher ups. Well, they are sooooooo hard down by with their delivery times, pay, conditions etc its only fair
The Livingston depot is a weird place anyway. In most cases (but not all) the chill loaders wont talk to ambient loaders. Ex Dundee drivers wont talk to old depots Livingston drivers. Very few talk to agency drivers and none of them talk to Stobart drivers
At the end of a run they will scrutinise your trip and ask you to give a reason for each time you have stopped no matter how short the stop was. They didn’t seem to care about the reason but they had to put something on the computer for each occasion
A lot of companies now have a look at your trip but no one else is that bad to my knowledge. Don’t even think about thinking! I remember a clerk trying to tell me off for a split drop where I used common sense. 7 cages at drop 1, 32 for drop 2 and 6 frozen for drop 1. Scissor lift was broken and it is on a slope so knowing I was virtually passing drop 1 on my way back to the depot, I took their ambient off then did the other shop and returned with the frozen which suited the shop since I cleared their recycling out. A simple and obvious solution rather than struggling to clear space to get to the frozen then put drop 2 back on again. I did not call in for authorisation so I got my knuckles rapped
