I know for a fact one of our drivers has no clue what so ever about the change in the speed limits, he doesn’t have Internet or even a phone capable of Internet (I kind of envy him that a tad )
we haven’t told him either… Is that cruel?
to be fair I really do not think it would affect him
speed limits are a maximum…not a target!!
why would anyone paid by the hour rush about?

spot on, the safe limit is what your load and road conditions allow all within the maximum legal limit.
Added to that, people who just are not on a hurry
I’m on the trollies in Scotland and we have been told to do 50 on the A9.
Does anyone know given the alleged success of the A9 trial whether Scotland are going to introduce the new limits nationally.
Kenny1975:
On the A9 single carriageway road in Scotland with a 50mph limit the Tesco motors seem to be doing 50mph, makes a huge difference on the A9 the 50mph limit
We do 50 too but most of our drivers are decent and don’t take great pleasure in holding everyone else up

I’ll have a go at translating it into English
The speed limit is to help all traffic, that’s why is was stepped up, but the 40 brigade still sit at 40 looking in their mirrors at the nice big queue they have. If they are too frightened to keep up, they’d be better off on the buses
No intention to offend rod, just trying to help out those struggling to understand your post.

Guess we’ll find out in October 2017, when the 3yr trial ends.

To get the job done? I am more than happy with the 50MPH limit on the A9 and getting stuck behind someone doing 10MPH below that is going to ■■■■ me off. There are ways of dragging the job out without obstructing the traffic or being blatantly obvious to the transport office
Hiya theres been that many convictions on that bit of road i think i’ll still go at 40 on that bit
its caused so much confusion (don’t know why)i think people will always drive at 40 just there.

Which bit are you talking about? The A9 or the A556?

I got stuck behind an Asda truck on my way home.40 mph all the way on the Ilminster bypass. So I’d say that it was a waste of time changing the law as the trolley dollies still seem quite happy holding everyone up.
How long is the bypass exactly, and how many minutes were you held up?
Does it bloody matter how long it was?
The whole idea of the speed limit change was to increase traffic flow so if drivers are going to stick to 40 mph, the whole thing was for nothing.
No it doesn’t matter a ■■■■ to me really mate, but then again neither does getting ‘held up’ for a whole…minute and a half reckon if the job was that much pressure I wouldn’t do it, but hey ho each to his own way of doing things.
I agree about the traffic flow comment, and 50 is better IF used correctly, but I think the opinions of a few stressheads on here that think other drivers actually like to hold others up for the hell of it is complete ■■■■■■■■ quite frankly, and is put about by those that do not have time to stop for a ■■■■. I reckon those guys are more of a danger than somebody that sits a few clicks below the limit.

Didn’t bother me in the slightest as I was in my car on my way home.

When the A9 was 40mph i never really used to bother much with the 40mph speed limit, its a long boring road if you do. Used to get it all the time, come up to a truck doing 40mph and think fair enough he is running legal, get to the dual carriageway or overtaking section the guys foot is flat to the floor 56mph so no one can get past, then back onto single carriageway slam on the brakes. Seen that a lot there were intentionally holding up traffic and also encouraged trucks to overtake on the single carriageway section.

That was finest Geoffrey Chaucer. I think.

The reason you give is only in your opinion, but I agree that the slow down speed up thing is bloody annoying, but I think it’s more blissful ignorance, lack of attention to other road users, and general crap driving rather than actual deliberate mischief.
