New speed limits

Anyone know if the trolley dollies are under instructions to keep to the old 40mph limit on single carriageways? I was heading for Manchester from Crewe today and came across Sainsbury and Morrisons lorries plodding along the four-lane section of the A556 at a stately 40mph (very light traffic, so no problem passing them and they weren’t holding anyone up).

Really :unamused:
If your really that interested / worried go work ffor tesco or alike.
Must be a slow day in rayland :unamused:

Not sure bout the trolley dolleys but I had the pleasure of running down the A141 / 142 the other day and quite enjoyed letting her go to 50 on the wide bits.

As expected the Audi /BMW/Merc drivers wizzed past but Mr & Mrs average stayed behind so all in all im enjoying the new limits, especially as I now just set the limiter to 50 and crack on at a more suitable speed.

Added bonus of scaring the crap out of a lycra lout to boot.

I always get my Roymondos and my Raymundos mixed up too.

Typical HATE from contraflow muppet,HEY CONTRAFLOW apparently you got a 3 points and 60quid to pay for nose picking on B road

I got stuck behind an Asda truck on my way home.

40 mph all the way on the Ilminster bypass. So I’d say that it was a waste of time changing the law as the trolley dollies still seem quite happy holding everyone up.

On the A9 single carriageway road in Scotland with a 50mph limit the Tesco motors seem to be doing 50mph, makes a huge difference on the A9 the 50mph limit

All the ones I follow seem to be doing 50.

Maritime today on A17 from A16 to Kings Lynn 40 mph, Tesco on A47 Norwich bound from Kings Lynn 40 mph.

How long is the bypass exactly, and how many minutes were you held up?

I thought the new lgv limits only applied to England and Wales, and NOT Scotland?

The only road in Scotland where the new limits apply is the A9 which is where the 50mph HGV limit was trialed.

Does it bloody matter how long it was?

The whole idea of the speed limit change was to increase traffic flow so if drivers are going to stick to 40 mph, the whole thing was for nothing.

Work for Sainsburys myself and if anything we are encouraged to use the new speed limits. Means more work can be done etc.

The people who still go by the old limits probably don’t know about it, the law has only been live for short while remember!

You know that silly shaking head thing pensioners do when you overtake them? I’ve had that from a couple of lorry drivers because I didn’t want to sit behind them doing 37 mph when it was perfectly safe to do 50.
Why have TMs not sent memos out regarding the increase? I know of a tipper firm that has told it’s drivers in writing, also that they expect the 50 limit to be adhered to.
