Mechanics so do when new tools and machines come out and office staff for computers tablets and phones. We aren’t the only profession where people get excited by work tools

I’d get excited if there was a new Beaver from Leyland that I could have a go in.

Have you never seen them running out when the Snap On van visits their garage - to spend their own money on new tools?

You could spend £40 on a Marshalltown brick trowel, or £5 on the no name equivalent. No comparison when it comes to comfort, balance, and longevity though

No cutting edge on a Marshalltown, you could go for a Spear & Jackson Tyzack instead!
Nice fancy leather handle as well!

When I was a labourer on the roofs, I got sent out to buy a saw, so I just go with the purchase order ref, to Keyline, and pick up a cross cut saw, when I get back to site, Pete the tiler goes spare, I’d just picked up a cross cut saw, we go back to Keyline, and he returns the saw ask for the purchase order back, then finds the make of which I couldn’t tell you(from 30+yrs ago), but about 4 times the price, and probably teice as good, and puts that on the purchase order, with the immortal words “when the companies paying, its f******g gold plated boy”
