Points for working in an industry considered to have a shortage of personnel AND for working in a “skilled” profession.

Thanks to this fake driver shortage, foreign drivers are still going to be popular and wages/conditions wont be improving any time soon.

Yeah, you know like taking control of our borders… by setting requirements that are so low that almost anyone can come still…

But at least we’re controlling it :unamused:

Let’s just say things are closer to my expectations than my Hope’s!!!

Great news.

Make Britain Great Again.

Err lads I’m not sure if you are reading this correctly.

It says that they won’t give work visas for low skilled work. Which is what driving is considered!

The MAC’s Shortage Occupation List lists the jobs which are going to get special treatment and it specifically says driving is not included: gov.uk/government/publicati … t-may-2019

I’m not meaning to insult anyone with the low skilled bit… I’m just quoting the MAC list.

The primary reason I voted out border control
Well done Boris Johnson onwards and upwards

Welcome to Boristan.

By the many, for the few.

You voted in a lying, conniving, backstabbing toff, and you are going to reap the rewards. Or rather, he and his chums will reap the rewards.

The previous thirty or so years have been an experiment, to see how much the populace will take. You have proven that you will let yourselvesbe lied to and be dryshafted, and ask for more, as long as “celebrity goggle box on jungle ice reality” is on the box, and you can stick yourselves into ever spiraling debt to “buy” the latest iPhone and car…

That part of the experiment having concluded as a success, now is the time for them, to grab what they can, and siphon it off abroad, and leave you in 5years with the remnants of a completely ■■■■■■ society.

Strap in, its going to be a rough ride.

I heard on some.news channel.possibly sky news.
That if an immigrant has a job offer and pay is over 20k then there application will gain more points and be accepted .
Which on a 40 hour week is £9.61 hr.
Which is about £1hr off the minimum wage.
But big .companys will.always find some loop.hole to exploit ie base a contract on 50 hours or include overtime on there calculations

I cannot see how LGV drivers come under the skilled bit as they are not to A level

LGV is not listed as a special exemption

Good news for newbies me thinks - yes

If you read the article

Who is ‘skilled’?

Under the plan, the definition of skilled workers would be expanded to include those educated to A-level/Scottish Highers-equivalent standard, not just graduate level, as is currently the case.
Waiting tables and certain types of agricultural worker would be removed from the new skilled category, but new additions would include carpentry, plastering and childminding.

Childminding and plastering are included as skilled. I am sure LGV is comparable…

You can be sure in the small print there is something like, if there is a shortage in any sector the full rules won’t apply, the jobs have to be filled and the power of the big companies that employs people in any sector always get what they want
It will just be done in a different way, not a free for all

To be honest Rog, I didnt go too deeply into it. But skilled or not, lorry driving WILL be exempt from the rules because we’ve been told for the past few years that theres a shortage.

I was listening to radio earlier and some business owner was moaning that english people dont want to work for minimum wage!! I thought of a solution that didnt involve importing people!! Shame nobody asked what car he drove or how much his house was worth.

Never forget, there are people on this site that said they would happily share a beer with Boris Johnson…

If you criticise you are whinging bad loser… despite the fact that even the people that didn’t vote for him will unfortunately reap the rewards of him and that crowd…

If you want to see what people are going to do, look at what they have done.

I’ve just paid cash for my new car…and I hav’nt got a telly.

The only drivers that will ultimately be affected by Brexit - will be upto 3.5t drivers in central London…

No more TfL jobs for illegal immigrants, no speke English born here types, nor licenceless brudders… :bulb:

reality of the wages will be that brudder achmed or whatever will employ below minimum wage immigrants as cheap labour anyway.
they will get paid wages shown to comply with the loopholes for getting them in,and after they get paid, they will casually hand back £100 or£200 per week in cash backhander to replay uncle london for letting them get a foot in the door.
its the same for employment as it is rent ect.
the loophole will exist instantly
get a job with £500 wages as a pencil sharpener, then suddenly get put on short time, hey presto, instant tax credits and more leeching as the job will only exist on paper with you working elsewhere on the black…

There aren’t meant to be jobs for illegals now, it’s only because the Government don’t mind if these rules are overlooked.
