NEW JOB

First rule of agency work … don’t show off about your wages. It’s no one’s business but yours what you earn.

I was not showing of he asked so I showed it to him what was I supposed to do lie, Btw I have had my class 1 for over 25 yrs I think I know the rules by now…

Tell him it’s none of his business, but politely. That’s what I would have done.

You’ve just completely gone against what you originally said. Firstly a Partner got you banned for showing him your wage slip and now you say it’s because you told him to check something with VOSA? Enlighten us as to what else goes on there and I’ll check my bull [zb] detector. It might need new batteries though as it’s been going mad with your posts.

what you need to do is tell me how much the subs are for the Waitrose fan club, not bothered if you do not believe me I was there at the time it happened thankfully not any more,

Well considering you’re happy not to be there any more, you do sound bitter about it. I believe you earned the money and you probably have been banned for something, I just don’t believe it’s what you say it is. No doubt you’ll be onto bigger and better things, earning more than the permanent drivers and spreading your own particular brand of bull [zb] about previous assignments and why you were let go.

the so called permanent drivers were upset because they have been having probs getting there overtime pay, you asked so I told you but you must be a Waitrose Partner because you have done nothing but stick up for them,,

I love this about the internet … “you don’t agree with me unconditionally, therefore you must be one of Them.” It’s hilarious. You must surely see, PPH, how your thread is a bit unconvincing, to say the least. I’ve never done more than shop in Waitrose occasionally and I can smell the sour grapes from here.

sorry you do not believe the truth…

PPH:
sorry you do not believe the truth…

The problem people are having is not what bits are true but what bits are missing. A dispute about pay is not now, and never was, an issue that comes into VOSA remit. If you believe that someone has over heard comment in which VOSA was mentioned then yes you possibly have been stitched up by one of the blue eyed boys that are found in every RDC.

What can you do about it? Well ask your agency for an explanation as to why you have been banned, written would by preferable but not likely to be forthcoming as in my experience no-one would want to commit to paper something that they might later want to deny. That way at least you might be able to argue from a position supported by some facts/statements and if you are that bothered you could challenge any facts/statements which are not accurate.

The first option would have to be with your agency the second option is not IMHO likely to do you any favours as once word gets around of that you are thought of as a troublemaker then you may find work drying up.

I wouldn’t say I was sticking up. I’m trying to neutrally question your story to find out the truth of what you’re saying. You’ve gone from one reason for being banned to a completely different one. This is what makes me think you’re not telling the full story.

I will try and explain!!! I went in last week as I was on the backs rota, asked the staff if they had any wage slips (the agency send them to transport to save postage) in the waiting area was a couple of waitrose drivers, one was talking to a agency driver and saying he was on his arse finance wise as he had not received his overtime pay, another agency driver asked me if I had heard from VOSA about the 15mins getting to my workplace time I said no but I will ring the first chance I get, I opened my pay slip and was asked how much this and I told him, the next time I rang for my start time I was told there was no more routes for me for waving my pay slip about and threatening to ring VOSA

That adds some more to the tale and on reading this additional information maybe you should speak with your agency and see if they will make your case with the company. The payslip was, in hindsight, easy to see as “inflamatory” to an employed driver whose pay had been messed up by the company. If you are that bothered about being banned and want to try and reverse the decision that would be the route I would take along with some humble pie and a promise not to repeat the wage slip incident.

What is this 15 minutes to getting to the workplace anyway? Wouldn’t your shift start at the depot gate or do you go to the agency office first?

Sounds a bit far fetched to me but if it happened as you described it I would advise never showing your wage slip to anyone unless you trust them completely.

If cornered I will always underplay what I pick up, there are things in life to boast about but getting paid when others aren’t is a no no. IMHO

Oh and I’m not one of the partners who ever they are.

“Partners” is, as far as I know, one of the “cuddly capitalist” terms used instead of “staff”. You know, like Sainsbury’s staff are known as “colleagues” and Asda staff are part of the “Wal Mart Family”. In fairness, I think Waitrose is actually owned in part by its staff, so there’s some justification for it.

Thanks, thought it referred to some of the head board level bods in the waiting room doing one of those ‘secret boss’ type shows…

Sounds nice at Waitrose might send me CV in.

the point you are all missing is he said I was lying about how much I had got and I will not be called a liar if the truth is in my hand…

I think everyone is missing your point because you keep changing your story?

have read the whole lot or have just come in at half time ■■?

I think we get the point your making. There is a body of opinion that think your response, to an agitated driver, was aggravating the situation rather than calming.

In English please.

I thought the point of this story was to show the errors of waving your wage slip about, chances are you where tricked into doing this.

Did you open it and start dancing about, better to have gone and opened it in the loo and said nothing.

Could you scan it in/take a picture of it and post it in this thread so we can see the evidence for ourselves to back up your story (blanking out your personal details of course).

Naughty naughty.

Jealousy is a terrible thing amongst the full timers vs. agency drivers

I say nothing at whatever company it is I work for, you always get the same questions from both other agency drivers and employed drivers. There is nothing worse than a full time driver thats ■■■■■■ off because some agency scrote is working for double what he is on

do not have a scanner so here is a break down of the pay slip
days 8.50 9.00 76.50
backs 23.75 9.00 213.75
nights 3.00 11.97 35.91
o/t 18.00 13.50 243.00
sunday 12.25 15.00 183.75

total 752.91
net 566.29

this is just a reasonable wage for the hours worked…

So after all that :unamused:  What’s happened to the OP, ‘reeldeal’ who was leaving Stobarts at the beginning of Sept; to go full time with Waitrose  This was the question that was asked on the 11/10/13 by Old Skool Trucker. It would be interesting to hear reeldeal’s opinion of the job
