New Job!

mickyblue:
what sort of job

Delivering flour from a family run mill in the Cotswolds. We go all over UK, was going to shadow a driver for a few days but they’re letting me loose into Wales on Monday. Will need to get a sleeping bag as we do Cornwall and Scotland. Nice Daf CF 6wheel curtainsiders (newer ones are High Roofs).

Good luck with the new job mate

Hope you enjoy it. I don’t know why i didn’t do this job years a go

Well done mate…will need to keep an eye out for you on the A40 around Burford

You’ll enjoy getting about a bit more, and your nights out !

Finally succombed and bought a Tom Tom today which I’ve been busy entering weight limits and low bridges as POIs.

sounds a nice little number…does that

but he had a nice little number, cycle to work,7am 4.30 pm, mon-fri, home every night, never rushed anywhere, pulled a lever truck tipped itself, no need to run a second car but all he did was moan about everything except the wages so presume they weren’t bad payers

It was a good place, spoilt by a few ■■■■■■■■■

Sounds like an interesting new job…something a bit different.

dont know about that myself, whilst i will admit a change of job may do mr muckaway some good the novelty of doing nights out will soon wear off
when you think about it after a steady number for years nighting out will seem like being at work twice as long for a lot less than twice the money

TOP MAN , great news Nathan , I will look out for you buddy , yank plate fixed to the cab etc soon i expect . Occasional night out or one or two is fine , your look forward to seeing your wife and young lad more now . I was never a week out man but three maximum a week is my limit although I have done the whole week due to breakdowns etc . Any how great news again .

Couldn’t you have given a weeks (or 2 weeks) notice to the agency before starting with the other job ■■

PS , I know nothing about agencies or how they work having never worked for any…

Good luck chap, looks a steady number, :sunglasses:

Would I be right in thinking that you will be driving for Matthews mill, Shipston under Wychwood?

He’s going to see his family more now? You’ll have to explain how that works…

Unless you have a contract of employment from the agency I can’t see a problem.

The contract is between the agency and the employer and they will have one, it will in a round about way say that he must of left the agency for atleast 6months before any of the agencies clients can employ him. They’ll fight it because its easy money, the fee could be atleast a grand.

^^^^^This

+1 and it can be substantially more than a grand. :open_mouth:

I have a very good friend who works in an agency office and it happens more than you’d think :open_mouth:
IIRC there contract says if you’ve had the man for 12 weeks that lets you off the hook though.

Shouldn’t have mentioned it to agency if there is that’s down to the agency and company to sort out.
Must say your posts seem a lot more happy since you left smiths.

True, but they do send adhoc drivers’ mates to them so I thought better to tell them myself and not secondhand (had enough of that where I used to be). I’d applied for the job before the agency sent me there.I’ve really enjoyed being away from tippers, never saw myself doing anything else. Since Smiths though I’ve done chilled, nights, curtainside, tail lifts and supermarkets.

If you had applied for a job with the company before the agency sent you there, and either of you can prove it, I can’t see that there should be any comeback on your new employer. I may be wrong, but I don’t think the agency will be able to enforce any contract under those circumstances. Anyway, good luck in your new job and enjoy it.
