New job time (again!)

I am sure that you only went home to get some medication as you had no money on you and you had an upset tummy? Depending on just how far you detoured its credible.
Is it worth putting a grievance in against this planner as he has caused you some distress and anguish as a simple phone call would have cleared up this situation without taking your truck away from you? It seems to me like the planner is swinging his proverbial to show you who’s the boss ect. Play the victim go sick with stress.

Personally I’d sack you on the spot. You are obviously a rogue operator who does as he pleases! It’s only one step away from parking your lorry outside a pub to meet a mate! Slippery slope indeed.

Interesting replies fella’s-cheers. I think Rob has hit the nail on the head. The reason I called back at home was because I had left my phone, and as Warrington is next to Runcorn where I was collecting salt, I didn’t think it was a big deal.

If the chap had anything about him, a simple question would have provided the answer. But this ■■■■ sucker wanted to impress his boss by telling tales, so there you go.

Just going to phone them now and explain that I need a 45 hour uninterrupted weekly rest starting from the minute after Uncle Knobhead rang. Rules are rules…

Say u need ed WC. number 2. Works for me every time. :sunglasses:

Try stobarts, they are in your area. Don’t think they would bother if you nipped home. I know they never questioned me if I did when I worked for them. Oh sorry I forgot you ■■■■■■ that job up too. Get on the agency. Limp home anytime.

I am very proud of getting sacked from Stobarts HS! It’s harder than you think…

You should try a little anarchy HS, release all that tension you have

Anarchy? i was an anarchist many years ago. Today I’m more sensible. Middle class almost. Living comfortably on my comfortable wage. Tonights merlot is quite spectacular. Enjoying your white lightening?

Regarding getting sacked? Told them i was ‘thinking’ of leaving … got a payrise.

Lol. What makes you think I am not comfortable HS? If being someone’s ■■■■■ is your kind of thing, crack on mate…fear of not being able to pay your mortgage must be a terrible thing!

By what you’ve posted on here you will probly need a new job anyway , u ain’t done yourself any favours , trust me I have personal experience

I don’t doubt you are yourself comfortable. Also I’m no ones ■■■■■. Please don’t presume!

Top marks bud, treat the bastds as they treat you has always been my way, and use their rules to your advantage.
Too many are content just to bend over.
Nice to see a driver with a backbone…let us know what they say.

Just walk. Don’t even bother going to the enquiry. You needed to pop home, end of story. There’s a shortage of drivers, not crap employers, and Downtons have always been at the bottom of the heap of crap employers. See this as a chance to get a decent job.

HS-get some more of that middle class grape juice down you. You are getting far too upset!

Anyone who is a wagon driver and reading this, should take notice from Rob. If you want to be trusted, left alone, hell; ’ even respected '…GET A BACKBONE. Far too many drivers think they have hit the jackpot because they have a job and a mortgage.

Don’t be afraid of losing your job. Stand up for yourself and your fellow drivers. I understand about paying bills etc…but conditions will NEVER improve if drivers put up with being treated like dicks.

The planner in question on this case phoned me at 12.27 today. I will be going in to work at 09.27 Monday morning. When I am asked why I have come in late, I will explain that my rest was disturbed by a work phone call outside normal working hours so I have had to reset my 45 hour rest.

I will then be driving at a safe, legal speed EVERYWHERE I go next week and drive at a speed appropriate to the road conditions.

And if I want to come home off route and ■■■■■■■■■■, I shall. And I really don’t give a flying [zb] if anyone from Downton are reading this

Yeh maybe so, but who would care anyway.
Who in their right mind would want to work for a bunch of twunts like them if they treat their drivers like naughty schoolboys.

Being disciplined is fair enough if it is a worthwhile and justified reason…I was myself and took it on the chin as I was in the wrong, and it was justified (not elaborating so don’t waste your time asking) but in EagerB’s case I would have given them a very short answer and walked,… with a bit of dignity left.

As I have said on here before, it’s like when they try and run you ragged or whatever, they only do it if you allow them to ! :bulb:

Caereful what you are doing here. Evilthingy will get upset if you muscle in on Robroy.

yours sincerely

subservient ■■■■■.

I like my job but a few years ago I was getting a ■■■■ load of hassle for no reason, I proved my point and made my stand, it turned out very good.
I am of the mind get a good job and keep it as long as possible even putting up with some dopes in management, but occasionally you need to say enough is enough.
If treated right, I would be a lifer in my current job, treat me like a knob I have no qualms walking out.
It’s a pride thing

cant quite understand why a quick phone call to planner to say your nipping home or have nipped home for reason x y or z,

I’d be doing exactly the same as the Beaver, and I’m glad he didn’t call them back, as that resets the 45 again if they want to be pedantic… I think it’s far better to go in 45 hours after their phone call and play it exactly by the book. The sad thing is that when the firm plays it by the book and you return the favour in kind, they try and label you as a problem employee. They will never admit that they are treating you like a child so you’re choosing to behave like one. They just want mindless sheep that follow blindly, and because of that, a black sheep is soon weeded out for punishment and encouraged to depart…

Sod em!

And the same could be said for them…
They could have asked why he went home before arranging a disciplinary! :open_mouth:
