I can only imagine that someone in lower management at CMD has an account on here, and they use the search function every so often to see what’s being said about them. It just goes to show you that this place is full of losers and spies.
In my opinion, what they did with your truck, and the tracker was morally wrong. It may have been an informal policy of theirs to give new-starters a decent truck, so it pleases you when you’re in the make or break period, the period of uncertainty what you have after you start a new job, persuading you to stay. Then they give you an older, more numerous truck after you’re broken-in, and starting to feel a bit captive. It’s only the same what the green and red firm do with their agency drivers, giving them the best trucks and runs so that they come back for more. The longer you’ve been there, the more captive and docile they probably think you are.
And for the tracker, surely a human thing to do, if they found it to be incorrect, would be for them to have a quiet word with you. Not a complete snitch-shafting like this pointy-shoed woodlouse gave you.
Apparently there’s a company in your neck of the woods called Freddy Hobart, or something like that, who are crying-out for drivers.

A very level headed opinion of what went and what goes on in this industry today mate.
All this treating men like children, sending them to the headmaster , where a quiet one to one word between a planner and his driver would suffice, dishing out procedures and schemes that indicate fully to all the lack of respect and decency that these type of companies have for their drivers, and all garnished with a crap pay rate to boot.
Unfortunately the contempt and low esteem that is displayed towards drivers, is now sadly commonplace with many big firms.
Also they take a dim view of any resistance towards their 19th Century style worker related policies.
What is more tragic for ourselves as drivers, are those amongst us that have been brainwashed by these type of company’s driver policies to the extent that they are actually standing up for them against a fellow driver, as well illustrated on this thread…bet these firms just love that, so keep it up lads.
A good indication of what sort of chance we would have of drivers sticking together as one to improve conditions in the job.

Come on then rob, would you have done what he did? Do you think he’s done anything wrong? When you ran your own trucks what would your response be if this happened with one of your drivers? Obviously this will vary from someone doing this on their 1st day with you to someone that’s been with you for 20 years. And to clarify, roughly he set off on a 11 mile round trip starting and finishing in the yard, but ended up doing roughly 37 miles taking 2 planned detours.
And do yourself a favour and don’t make out that anyone with a different opinion to yourself or beaver is brainwashed
It’s ironic that a driver who puts a few extra clicks on the motor and wastes a bit of the company time, gets grabbed by the nuts and told how loud to squeal by the firm. Yet a ■■■■ poor planner (other planners are available) can send a driver here there and everywhere, ■■■■■■■ the company’s money up the wall without a single comeback it seems…
I’ve been there myself and can think of loads of times I’ve told a planner that that won’t work or they won’t be open, etc…
But they won’t have it, and you have to waste your time and the company’s money doing as they say, if anything just to prove it to them.

How little you know about working in a traffic office…

To keep this in context, he’s got to explain why he swapped his truck for the company scrapper first! How could you Robroy?

Well it appears your knowledge on the topic isn’t exactly overwhelming then!
I was expecting you to enlighten me considering you chimed in appearing like an expert…

No I didn’t chime in like an expert… I’m not that cheap.
No you said there was a difference, it was a genuine question. I just wondered what your reasoning was.

I didn’t say there was a difference, I just clarified my experience in response to your aspersions to my knowledge.
I’ll take it that you were just trying to snipe at me then, and move on…

Firstly thanks a lot for the favour advice mate, but don’t bother yourself, I do not think that, I do actually and genuinely think many are company brainwashed, if that does not suit you I can not help that.
Ok, if it had been done to me, and it was the first time, I would have had more respect for that guy if he had just give me the heads up quietly that the firm would not be happy with me calling round home, instesd of scurrying along to his superior loving the fact he had dropped me in the ■■■■.
Granted he would have got a ‘‘What? well for ■■■■ s sake’’ sort of response, but at least it would have not been blown out of all proportion to the point where I lost my job, …even though I would maybe have looked around for something else if I was hounded or treated as anything less than an adult.
As for the boot on the other foot, my firm and a driver doing the same, I did not have many lads leave me as I looked after them, they were mostly older than me, I was in my 20s so yeh they tried it on, but we soon came to an understanding who was in charge.
I would have weighed up the situation , if I thought it was worth mentioning depending on how good a lad he was, and any tolerance depending on what he had done for me in the past,.
Then if I did not like it tell him, and that would be it, job done.
Not make a song and dance by forming a ■■■■ ‘disciplinary hearing’ or whatever management buzzword phrase they use, as if he had committed murder.
Hope that answers all your questions.
I was only asking a question. Not starting a fight.
So below you tell me how little I know about a traffic office, you offer nothing to debate or rebut, and I’m the one who’s paranoid?

Well I know a little about Transport Management and traffic distribution, I also get the point that Evil is making and agree what he says is true.
There was a programme on tv that we have all seen where the top man of the co. was in the office visiting and supervising, giving the impression that they accounted for, and tried to avoid every mile of empty running.
My mate who works for them said.‘Ffs, if only he knew’
