New job at nolans

The other thing to remember is Nolan never used to pay British drivers in euros. Always pounds and taxed in UK through the tax office in Haverfordwest.

€770/week,take home :open_mouth: No chance :grimacing:

euros, not pounds

Still unbelievable in the current climate. Most Irish drivers are lucky to get that before tax let alone after

That’ll be about €1,000 a week before tax then, ■■■■ good money !

many moons ago when I was a young and single fool I did my stretch at Nolans, IIRC about 4 years. the pay then as luke points out was in sterling all UK taxes paid, and we were on £100 a day after tax for everyday we were in the truck regardless of parked up or driving. now there was no other money, nights out or food or such but it was possible to earn £700 a week in the bank but obviously they wanted more than their pound of flesh and the tacho rules were blatantly disregarded. if you had a day off they made sure their was plenty of “opportunity” to make those hours up.
as I pointed out to limeyphil earlier though they soon changed the pay structure when they realised bogdan and his mates would work for £70 (100 euro back then) per day and when parked up waiting or weekended nothing

Personally I think he talks pure ■■■■■■■■. Still plenty of flip flops movin on for god knows what a day

So, do you have a job with Nolans or not? All the people that wished you good luck, what a tool if this is another lie.

i may have put a few obvious wind ups on here in the past, but how could a simple thread about starting a new job be a wind up, or a lie?
110 euros a day is not much if you change it to sterling, and if you follow the exchange rates, you will see it isn’t getting any better for those paid in euros, so before i pack my bags, and don my flip flops, i have a lot to think about. i need to clear up a few things.
one very important thing is, if i’m parked up for a couple of days waiting for a load, am i getting paid?

now when it comes to differenciating between a lie, and a wind up. if it looks like a wind up, then that’s what it is, and it’s there for a laugh. if it looks like a lie, then it’s not written by me.

It’s just those of us with first hand experience of Nolans find elements of what you say, errrr, unbelievable.

How much notice do they want whether you are taking this ‘job’ or not? In the OP you said it was starting a week on Sunday, that makes it THIS Sunday, yes?? Bollox, you either want the job or you don’t, why would a Company give you over a week to decide if you want the job, are you ‘that special
You paid in Euros or Sterling? Why change it to Sterling, if you want Sterling can’t you ask for that instead?

After reading the evidence, nah, it’s what you call a ‘wind up’ and some would say a lie.

i appreciate the positive, and negative comments.
i’ve been shafted in the past. everyone can talk a good job. drivers, and employers alike.
if i do get shafted, you will know what you can say to me, and i won’t take offence.

i had things to do before i could start. like have a week off. and apart from that, my mate is shipping in to dublin on saturday, so he’ll be giving me a lift.

Does that now mean you’ve contacted Nolans and told them that you are accepting their offer of employment?

Hang on:-

limeyphil:
i’ve been offered a job with Nolans. 770 euros per week, away for 6 weeks, then home for 6 days.
perfect.
starting week on sunday.

You posted that on Sundfay, that would mean you’d start in TWO weeks time. Nolans gave you 2 weeks to decide if you want the job■■? Nah, you either want it or you ■■■■■■■ don’t.
If todays climate you can’t afford to ■■■■■ something like a job up.
slimeyphil, this is yet another ‘windup’, yes?

I don’t wish you any ill will and if you are going there my advice is give as good as you get, because they WILL be ■■■■■■ and blinding down the phone at you. I’m mostly surprised at the €770 in the bank to be honest.

Dinosteveus your mistaking Nolans for a company that does things properly. He can pull out anytime he likes, they won’t care and he could ring them in a few months and they’d give him a job again. Ireland isn’t like the UK, it’s much more relaxed in many ways.

How strange, maybe they’d give me a job? I know some Irish people, would that ‘help’?

steve if vdb wasnt for your liking nolans certainly wont.

Nah, joking. I’m not good enough for Euro Class 1 work, I don’t have enough experience.

Wasn’t it just the left ■■■■■■ you were struggling with? if you can drive a truck over here you can drive a RHD across there, it just takes a bit of getting used too. I passed my test and 2 months later I was on the way to Italy, sink or swim! you soon realise you can swim lol,

All Nolans want is you to sit in the seat and steer in vaguely the right direction so you’d be fine
