New job advice,

So, due to some truly spectacular driving on Monday I’m likely looking for a new position, yes I’m an idiot!

Anyone have any advice for places around Bolton/Blackburn/bury/Manchester. Ideally tramping class 1, but provided the money’s enough I’m not picky.

Thanks everyone

Just leave it at that.

Spill!

Firstly before applying anywhere can you honestly answer the questions details of previous employer and why did you leave previous employment. :smiling_imp:

Seconded. Half a story or what

Suffice to say she came to a stop very quickly with a big bang, she is a former wagon, an ex wagon! Haven’t heard anything from the office yet re job/disciplinary so don’t want to say too much. I’m back out today/tomorrow for them so I’ve no idea what’s happening. (In a wagon that I can’t reverse, the damm thing turns the wrong way and doesn’t bend!!)

Possibly a bit harsh.

On an unrelated note are you uncle skid or uncle’s kid?

a mere bagatel dear boy.
wait till your bagged or at least getting the tongue lashing before deciding to look elsewhere unless its a terrible job to start with?
obviously your a 1st class employee cracking on and doing your best to be putting in a full days hard work .
if you were a dobber and hanging it out, then you wouldnt have rammed it right up someones jacksie

Those damm gateposts jump at you!! I love the job, I like the work, it just seems steadily getting worse and worse, fighting for equipment, recording calls from the office so you’ve got a record when someone else wonders why the ■■■■ your doing what your doing, crappy attitudes (granted that prob me feeling that more with being shook up n stressed)

Stobarts were advertising for Warehouse Operatives … at 10.50 per hour.

So 40 hours at 10.50 and 8 at time and a half would be £546 or 28 grand a year. Interesting.

You’re doing it wrong. All wagons will bend in the middle, its just you very likely wont keep your job afterwards if you manage it.

See the Stobarts post to see how you can even try to convert a bendy into a wagon and drag bendy…same principle.

It’s not far from the area you’ve mentioned but these following companies are all nearly always after trampers:

Mcmurrays Accrington
Fagan & whalley Burnley
EFS burnley
Matthew kibbles nelson

I think no matter how the pay structure is made up you’ll take home about £600pw with any of em which the area is normal. EFS have mostly old rusty sheds but other 3 have top kit as well.

I think Highways Agency HATO is paying more than that at the moment for traffic officers

Yeah bit that includes standing out on all weathers, standing beside the road as crazy nutters fly by and trying to control traffic on motorways.

Think I’d want more than 28K to do all that. Bit more dangerous than working in an Eddie warehouse.

And also a lot of people will automatically have the attitude of you including plenty on this forum that just because your doing that job your scum, jumped up wanna be copper with no actual power or authority to do anything and your a waste of space and waste of money.

My point was more that they are paying similar for 48 hours in a warehouse where your start and finish are known in advance, to what they (and others) are paying their drivers. It’s also an entry level job that most can get.

Yes highways agency or even Vosa/traffic officer pay 28k plus shift allowances, so actually the same as the warehouse op job.

You say your not fussy, well neither are most firms, only tankers, livestock, car transporters and very few others have standards. You wont be out of work long.

Met a few HATO over the years and nothing but respect for them, but defo need a lot more money especially with smart motorways. Ruddy risky.

Regarding warehouse workers - would wonder where the catch is as never seen a general warehouse job above £9. Got to be very odd hours, working in hostile conditions (eg freezers), umbrella agency or part time which tends to pay higher hourly rates.
