New hours rules for drivers

Zac_A:
I haven’t seen anyone post this so far, so here are the new regs, as published in the Official Journal of the European Union. I’m disappointed that gov.uk hasn’t made the effort to post a more easily digestible version on their website yet.

EDIT - sorry, looks like the boards don’t allow uploads of pdf’s, so here’s the url instead

There are links in the euro section and the operators section as well as on this page -

I would check with officialdom before taking a reduced break on an overnight ferry crossing though.

There appears to be a subtle change from the original draft and the finished document of changes to drivers hours.

The ability to record other work on daily/weekly sheet has now disappeared. It is now only available under domestic rules.

Interestingly, it says record on a chart, and not an analogue tachograph chart.

The record of other work must be either:

written manually on a chart
written manually on a printout from a digital or smart tachograph
made by using the manual input facility of a digital or smart tachograph or
Additionally, for days where a driver has been subject to the domestic drivers’ hours rules, a record may also be required under those rules. See Record keeping, recorded in a domestic log book

Conner me old mate …I did not say I could not understand the hours and WTD rules …I said the hours were to long ie 15 hour spread and the other stuff that is to complicated when taken with the WTD .Instead of tinkering and achieving nothing they had a chance to bring haulage into 2021.For the record Class one since 1973 until 2017 full time now part time .No speeding ,over loading or Gv9,s . One driver hours conviction " failed to take a weekly rest " I knew what I was doing but chose to drive ,I had plenty drive time left and duty that I did not exceed apart from I did it in seven days .It was better than decorating that week end and I do not regret doing it…put that in your pipe and smoke it
