Are we supposed to cheer or cry …they are 30 years to late and still …to long and complicated wtd don,t make me laugh no wonder young ones are not interested
So what are they
Nothing new there.
The tweaks that are imminent are to do with drivers keeping print outs with them longer, 56 days I think.
I don’t do printouts, will I die and go to heaven…
Glad I am not the only one who never does print out. To be honest I would not know how.
I assumed downloading the tacho card every day was instead of a print out [emoji15] and you only printed to explain an issue or prove something! maybe need to start doing printouts!!!

i dont do it.
but are these temporary rules that were brought in during lockdown still operational?
not like need them anyway as roads are still reasonably quiet and think rush hours gone for now
This is not a secret ,no weekly rest to be taken in vehicle for a start …lots of other things record other work ie I was sawing wood up then made an adult movie where I played the star part ect

Sorry but if you still can’t understand EU drivers hours after over quarter of a century of them being in place then you shouldn’t be driving a lorry. There have been very very few changes over that time.
WTD isn’t exactly rocket science either.

That’s been the case for donkeys years, decades even. You must be one hell of a crap driver if you still can’t work out EU drivers hours rules after all that time.

True that. The information is alraedy ON the card, printout or no printout. It’s not like doing one transfers that bit from the card to the paper so you have to keep it for 6 months.
‘5. A driver shall record as other work any time spent as described in point (e) of Article 4 as well as any time spent driving a vehicle used for commercial operations that do not fall within the scope of this Regulation, and shall record any periods of availability, as defined in point (b) of Article 3 of Directive 2002/15/EC, in accordance with point (b)(iii) of Article 34(5) of Regulation (EU) No 165/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council (*1). This record shall be entered either manually on a record sheet or printout or by use of manual input facilities on recording equipment.
e mail from RHA changes to driver hours 20/8/2020 go read it know all
The new regs which seem to be the subject here are EU 2020/1054. Rather oddly they are referred to by the DVSA internally as “the mobility package”. The Covid relaxations ended on 31/5/20. 1054 has been the subject of construction over several years. It is very badly written and is likely to be subjected to significant revision. That’s the EU for you.
However, it’s clear what the main driving force is - to make sure that drivers who work internationally get to spend their regular weekly rest periods at / near home. An awful lot of the changes surround this topic such as back to back reduced weekly rest periods and no regular weekly rest periods to be taken in vehicles.
To that end, Article 12 - the section that allows drivers to breach regulation due to unexpected events - eg an RTC - has been expanded to allow this return to home/base for weekly rest.
It is article 12 that requires drivers to produce print outs with written explanations / evidence of why they had to breach regulation made on them and so to say that you are almost “proud” never to do printouts or have not got a clue how to do it is self defeating. Failing to fully produce and complete printouts in respect of regulatory breaches caused by unexpected events will negate the protection offered and bring the driver in line for a prosecution. Those print outs require to be in the drivers possession just in case they are stopped at the roadside and offences are detected by DVSA / Police. If any of those offences relate to breaches caused by unexpected events -Art.12- then if the driver has not made out said print out or does not have possession of it, the defence does not exist.
So how bizarre is it that some drivers have not got a clue on how to comply with a piece of legislation that could save them £1000’s!!
One thing that has sneaked under the radar in 1054 is the start of the process the bring “white van man” under the Drivers Hours rules from 2026.
Printouts can be mislaid or lost especially if/when you need them.
I keep a diary with times tipping and loading and what drops I’ve done just to keep.a check on my pay etc, so if I make a slight ■■■■ up or have to go over my time in traffic etc, I do the print out and staple it to the page date it applies to…just makes life easier.
As for the new rules…an opportunity to simplify them and cut down the ridiculous permitted hours…and this is what they come up with.
As for weekend cabbing it, if a driver is happy with that, and with the facilities he has, what’s the ■■■■ problem, and in that context wtf has it to do with those ■■■■■ where he chooses to have his weekend off sleep after socialising in some European city or another…it should be his choice, and if it’s a case of him being forced into it with his crap employer, that onus is on him to sort out his situation personally, not blanket ban something that suits other drivers

As usual, the baby is thrown away with the bathwater. These regulations are brought in, to end the exploitation of (mainly) East Euro and further afield drivers, who are forced to live a crap existence for weeks or months at a time, living in their cab, in laybys or other ■■■■ holes. As usual, rather than dealing with the culprits direct (whose names is actually on the side of the ■■■■■■■ truck…), it is easier to fine the driver, who can least afford those fines in the first place…

Exactly right, easy target regulating…a bit like policing.

Stick it in your wallet or your mobile phone case. It’s not like you’re going to have a whole wad of them and if you have then you need to seriously consider a career change.
