Ave had to take a tempory job way fife council driving the bin truck. A need to know of any companies up in fife or the lothians that take on new drivers or any advice yous guys have. thanks in advance for your help.
Try companies that have a bad reputation among drivers as its these that are likely to give you a start.
Way?? You mean with??
And yes just chuck your boots and gloves in your motor and go around haulage yards and leave your CV, one of them will give you a start.
^^^^ this is how I got my break. I was fed up with ringing round and getting blunt noâs so I jumped in the car and met them face to face. First one I went to (taylors of martley) said they would give me a trial as I had used my initiative by meeting with them. I was there 3 years!
Lairdy you have answered your own questionâŚI drive a dustbin lorryâŚso drive the dustbin lorry into someones yard and tell them your looking for something better least they know you can drive a lorry.
Get on with it and lie a bit or alot.

Only really thick ones that are easily manipulated and brainwashed.
Our lot (wincanton) on this contract took on a middle aged bloke that had passed his test with the army but had no experience at all. Basically these days it seems with the larger companyâs if you can drive well on a 1 hour driving assessment then your good enough. Of coarse the first time they get sent to one of the tiny building sites we deliver to they quickly realise theyâve got a lot to learn lol

For the insurance purpose most companies are looking for drivers with minimum 2 years experience. ( or 2 years old drivers licensce)

Take an adult literacy class. If you fill in applications and send off letters how youâve posted above then thereâs no wonder youâre not hearing anything back from any of them. If you have trouble with spelling etc then get someone to help you fill in the forms or write the letters/emails.
Being able to drive a truck isnât enough on its own to get a job any more.
Looking at the OPs other posts I think he can write ok but uses text speak at times

Why are you always the 1st to have a go at someone over the way they post on here.
We all know what heâs written. Maybe you should train to be and English teacher, because truck driving doesnât seem to be your thing.
My dear departed father-in-law always told me, âTwo wrongs donât make a rightâ.

I donât often feel the need to defend Conor, mainly because I think heâs a â â â â â However, the crux of his post was that if the op is filling in application forms in the same manner he posed his post then itâs little wonder heâs getting little or no response. I agree 100% with Conors sentiments there. Itâs not about elitism or showing how clever we are with correct grammer, spelling etc. it basically boils down to a prospective employer being savvy enough to realise that on many occasions his drivers are the only face to face contact his customers have with his company.
If I ran a company and if Iâd met and talked to a driver face to face and found him to be polite, responsive and able to hold a conversation then I wouldnât care less if he couldnât spell his own name. But if that same driver sent me a written application that looked like a 4 year old had filled it in then Iâm afraid it would go straight in the bin.
A bit harsh? Maybe, but itâs a harsh world and nobody said it was fair.
Btw, Conor offered the op some genuine tips as how to help himself, he wasnât patronising or â â â â taking in his reply imo.
itâs time for my two penneth (for what itâs worth)
get a job at a factory or anywhere around production but be sure at your interview let them know youâve got your class 1,doesânt matter if you are carrying beds all day or sacks of rags, sooner or later they will be stuck and hello, who are they going to give a go with that urgent delivery, thatâs how i got my chance
Try Duncan Adams in grangemouth. They cant afford to be choosy

I agree with every word of that.
