Hey guys, I really need help, I just passed my class 1 in may and I am finding it hard to get a start with someone.I am registerd with agencies but still no luck.I have had to take a temporary job with Fife council driving the bin truck. I need to know of any companies up in Fife or the Lothians that take on new drivers or any advice you guys have. Thanks in advance for your help.

May should be a capital M, if you’re going to fix things, fix them properly please :open_mouth:

Take an adult literacy class. If you fill in applications and send off letters how you’ve posted above then there’s no wonder you’re not hearing anything back from any of them. If you have trouble with spelling etc then get someone to help you fill in the forms or write the letters/emails.

Being able to drive a truck isn’t enough on its own to get a job any more.

Why are you always tehe 1st to have a go at someone over the way they post on here.
We all know what he’s written. Maybe you should train to be and English teacher, because truck driving doesn’t seem to be your thing.

I don’t often feel the need to defend Conor, mainly because I think he’s a [zb]! However, the crux of his post was that if the op is filling in application forms in the same manner he posed his post then it’s little wonder he’s getting little or no response. I agree 100% with Conors sentiments there. It’s not about elitism or showing how clever we are with correct grammer, spelling etc. it basically boils down to a prospective employer being savvy enough to realise that on many occasions his drivers are the only face to face contact his customers have with his company.

If I ran a company and if I’d met and talked to a driver face to face and found him to be polite, responsive and able to hold a conversation then I wouldn’t care less if he couldn’t spell his own name. But if that same driver sent me a written application that looked like a 4 year old had filled it in then I’m afraid it would go straight in the bin.

A bit harsh? Maybe, but it’s a harsh world and nobody said it was fair.

Btw, Conor offered the op some genuine tips as how to help himself, he wasn’t patronising or ā– ā– ā– ā–  taking in his reply imo.

I agree with every word of that.

+1 more.
