Very windy up here. A90 truck overturned on frierton bridge. Who would have a go at that today .mad man

Not us. Were all parked in the yard. Boss isn’t letting us go out till at least 10am.

Whoa, a boss that actually gives a toss about the health & safety of their employees and isn’t just like “get it done”. Sounds like a nice wee number that, any jobs going?

You kindin on? That really surprises me in a good way! I’m up Kirkcaldy. FRB just recorded a 90mph gust. Happy days like a free day out at Alton towers.

Seriously merc. Our Luton got blown over a couple of years back and someone got smashed in the face when the wind caught the back door. Since then, he doesn’t take any chances.

I mind the day your Luton got blown over as it was the same day as my mate Ian got blown over up East Kilbride. Was one of your drivers that pulled him out the cab that day.

My last lot (you know) we’d easily have 5/6 go over on a day like this, it was only after a driver sued the company they started grounding us in the last year before I got made redundant.

You must be new to haulage industry, so let me tell you what most likely happened.
The driver called his gaffer letting him know it was very windy, lorry was wobbling because the wind was so strong all the time as he was driving before getting on that bridge, and said to his gaffer it wouldn’t be wise takes chances trying to cross that bridge.
What he got in return was a lot of bollocking, calling names, being told lorries go over that bridge all the time and nothing bad is happening, so you better get going driver, otherwise it is going to be your last day with us if you do not cross that bridge now.

Now, since the lorry got overturned on that bridge, do you think the gaffer will admit pushing the driver to keep going.
No way, he will deny the driver ever called him informing about windy condition, now he’s gonna be having a go at the driver for not being clear enough about the bad conditions he was experiencing before getting on that bridge, after all the driver hasn’t got anything in writing (sms, email) to prove he warned him about the strong wind.

This is haulage industry for you.

You may be wrong as the Friarton bridge is closed to highsided vehicles.

Wouldn’t get me on the Friarton bridge with a car today, never mind a HSV! :open_mouth:

If there is anyone who needs to calm down , it’s you, dear.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was you that pushed that poor bloke to go over that bridge, but I don’t expect you to be honest.
Now, back to what you do best, bullying drivers to take unnecessary risks, so that you can save money and undercut your competition by paying your drivers minimum wage.
Calm down bampot, It’s the same distance going on the a83 a85 vice versa, was it yourself you shuffler.

:open_mouth: wtf .Away back to your soapbox ■■■■■■

it always amazes me how many drivers cant just refuse to go out or make a sensible call themselves, I have before, like ■■■■ am I spending a night in hospital because someone in an office got into work ok in his BMW.

mozzy666:
 wtf .Away back to your soapbox [zb].

I suspect you are the gaffa that pushed that poor bloke to go over that bridge, despite being warned things will go wrong, but for someone like you safety is not the main concern, undercutting competition by paying your drivers minimum wage and forcing them to do things they shouldn’t do is your main goal.
Keep doing it, and one day you’ll end up in jail.

Got to give him his due. He is quite H&S conscious. He puts safety before profit. Oh and he is looking for drivers at our EK depot. That’s where the trampers are based. Can’t keep drivers at that yard for some reason. I think the guy that runs that yard is quite hard to get on with from what I’ve heard.[emoji53]

At least 3 trucks blew over on the 66 beginning of this week after drivers chose to ignore the ‘closed to high sided vehicles’ warning.
Wonder if their gaffers forced them to drive over this stretch?

We had 2 trucks that had to park up at the stainmore cafe cos the wind was that bad earlier this week. There were no weather warnings in place for strong winds that day, and from what i heard, the A66 wasn’t closed to high siders till after the trucks got blown over.

According to the news they ignored warnings.

One went over on the Severn Bridge this morning…
