new boxers

Came back over the old bridge last night, bout 11pm…only had about 3t in the back and I gotta say (apart from being a little surprised it was still open) I was ■■■■■■■■ melons! It was bad enough on the way over when I had around 10t in the back

Looks like it probably shouldn’t have been…

What would a 44 tonne milk tanker be classed as to go over the A66 if the signs were out?

Did any of you get blown over ?
Thought not . . . man up and get on with it.

Simple solution to new boxers…go commando. None needed. Sorted.

Ken.

last year i came across 3 that had been blown over on the same stretch of motorway…one was a poster on here.it does happen!

A trailer blew over in coulthards yard at Ecclefechan. How I laughed.

I’ve got good planners, ones an ex driver. I was driving back from Scotland empty last year and was told to pull into the next services for the night. Thought that was good of them although I did actually drive to the 2nd services with the £10 food voucher.

I came across the new Severn bridge in a curtainsider 1/3 loaded about 4 am and it was about the worst I have seen it and the speed limit was not dropped as it usually is, a mate was on the old bridge at 1.30 am and said it was bad, it must have been because he has done that for 40 years and never mentions how bad the wind is.
I saw a MAM sideways in the ditch between Bristol and Swindon about 10.30 pm and the Owens that went over on the old bridge, there were comments to the news article that the speed signs were normal which is very unusual.
The shipping forecast was mentioning gale force 9 to hurricane 12 and I thought thank ■■■■ I am in a HGV and not a boat

I saw the cone fairies setting up on the M4 on my way out but only realised there was one down the ditch when I passed on the way back…they had it upright but was still in the bushes. We only have curtainsiders at ours at 90% of the time we run back empty and being of a light structure (Foreign build) they ain’t good over the bridge or any strong wind for that matter! Wonder if there’s a case for Owens against the authorities for damages/repairs etc? I’m up at Chepstow every night and it’s been shut on occasions when the odd seagull has had had a bit of flatulance!

ajt:
At least 3 trucks blew over on the 66 beginning of this week after drivers chose to ignore the ‘closed to high sided vehicles’ warning.
Wonder if their gaffers forced them to drive over this stretch?

I saty in the layby off the A1 (going to Scotch) having a break, there were loads of motors going west on A66, and coming east. I followed a milk tanker across and in front of him was a Hayton Coulthard motor, with a (approx) 15ft6 trailer, midlift up on the unit, however, he did turn back at the barriers, as did the milk tanker. There were 2 motors lying on their side within 500yds of Stainmore café. I was fully freighted with a fridge, at one point the wind took my window wipers off the windscreen when it was on the upstroke (and it was persisting down)
Was closed again Wednesday coming back, I was in a convoy of 5 motors that went across, it wasn’t too bad at all to be honest.

Nobody told me to do it either.
