ok so my tom tom 720 decided to pack up today bloody thing… what them sat navs like you see on ebay and amazon for roughly 50 quid?? I don’t totally rely on them I tend to make my own via map then use the sat nav as a guide but always handy to have one right?

They are ■■■■ mate , phone up tom tom and say your truck sat nav needs replacing , you will get 25% off a new one
go for the go proffesional 520 , free lifetime traffic , maps etc
they throw in a free case too , it comes to just over 200 quid
stop being tight and get it , you won’t regret it

Had my Garmin dezl for 5 years ish, never updated it though as take it from me updates are designed to stress the components leading to failure and purchase of a new one, once the warranties expired obviously.

Watch the bloody thing brick itself now…

I’ve got the 520 model. Slightly smaller without armoured case.
Had it a month.
Only issues so far were weight and length limit on wallasey tunnel.
Didn’t want me to use it because it thought it had a 40ft length limit and 38 ton limit but I knew better from experience.
I’ve spoke to others with same problem on different sat navs.
I don’t think it’s traffic updates are as prompt as Google maps either but nothing’s perfect.
I just use it as an aide rather than follow it blind folded.
I’ve not had any issues the other way round where I’ve encountered a bridge or junction or weight limit that I couldn’t navigate if you know what I mean.

You do not need a new sat nav, you need a road atlas and a brain. If you need a sat nav to do your job you are in the wrong job. Been driving trucks since 1975, across the UK, Europe and the USA and never used a sat nav ever. All you need is common sense.

:unamused: these threads are not the same same without our self confessed Co-Pilot salesman …" the man from del hull says yes"

A Satnav is a road atlas…and I’m not sure anyone requested your CV though

Also didn’t help the Irish driver at Farnham this week

When I was a driver before sat-navs I would write down the road numbers and such like but its so much easier with an electronic map. E.G. a satnav.
