We have a Nigel Holmes and we call him Sherlock.

In the 80’s I worked with a bloke called John Barton at Wreford’s Transport Northampton. He was affectionately know as ■■■■ BARTON SPECIAL AGENT. There was a PA system in the yard and the TM used to call the drivers into the office using it. I still remember him saying; “Special agent, traffic office please. We have a mission for you”. John is still driving for Wreford’s and to this day everyone knows him as ■■■■.

Hi truckerash,I found a picture of a Granada estate which belonged to Mr Wreford which I bought off David Rogers in the 80s,it was fitted out with securing gear for his kids grass track m/bikes,I expect theyve grown out of them now. Also in pic is a DAF2800 we used for runs into Benelux towing the fridge its attached to.The driver, the great Tom Barrett became a few years later chauffeur to Shakin Stevens.I overnighted once at Immediates in Colnbrook and rang Barrett to go for a pint,he collected me in the roller then picked Shaky up and we adjourned to Harefield WMC for a session.Shaky ended up calling the bingo numbers to all the old dears whilst performing his dance routine.Great night but bigheadache in morning.
