My truck is faster than yours so there!

Ah but then I will not be one of those idiots who I have often pulled into the middle lane for and then been stuck there because they will then not give way and let me back in. And yes it means I have learnt my lesson and will not make the same mistake again.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

I hate it when i hold doors open for folk and they never say a polite thank you back. Doesn’t mean i now don’t bother holding doors open anymore.

End of the day the country is a mass with [zb] drivers. Joining them isn’t the answer.

MADBAZ:
How come I never have the problems you lot refer to?

I usually sit at 3 kph below the limiter (takes a bit of getting used to), if someone uses momentum down the hill and starts to run out of steam alongside me I’ll either knock it back a few clicks if i’m empty or leave him till the hill levels out then knock it back, I know what he’s doing, he knows what he’s doing (usually). If I have a chancer that just wants to play cat & mouse, up 3 clicks and goodbye. If I’m heavy I’ll plan way ahead, so I can pass easily using the hills & I-Roll and stay ahead or I’ll let him go ( :bulb: my cc has more than one setting).

q. why is it when you pass someone they’re so keen for you to get into lane one, I’ve had peeps who I can only describe as annoyed, judging by the way they flash, when you won’t scrape the flies off their windscreen?

Same here I never have a problem I just plod on in my in my own little world, every now and again some idiot does something to spill my brew but I carry wet wipes so it is okay.

Thetaff2:
No offence to you young man I simply stated that being a knuckle dragger thick as pig [zb] northern monkey he can spell with his limited intelligence…no offence to you fella

No comma’s or full stop at the end. Tut tut, you’re showing us all who the real thicko is!

Angry? certainly not. I just find it quite shocking that so called ‘professional drivers’ (a select few clearly evident on this thread) have attitudes on the road like ‘‘why should i’’ etc like they seem to have a problem if someone dares do something which causes them to use common sense or appear to get one over on them.

yep, let the guy in so he can slow you down to 30mph on the hill…way to go guys!

If you don’t know what your truck’s capable of…FIND OUT BEFORE YOU GET IN ANY OTHER KUNTS WAY!!.. ITS AS EASY AS THAT!
Do you lot actually drive trucks on a daily basis■■? :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

[zb] keyboard warrior! Bet you wouldn’t say boo to a goose if you were face to face…eh?? Pancake flipper!
If they’re quicker than me…let them carry on, they’re not the only one’s trying to get somewhere!

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: For a driver with a supposed 20yrs under your belt, your attitude towards other drivers is appalling :unamused:

He’s is the sort of driver that looks in his mirror as your passing and put’s his foot down thinking he is god leaving you in lane 2.

No matey…He’s not! However, if i’m travelling at 50mph on cruise control, there I will stay. Nothing wrong or illegal in that, is there?

Illegal = no
Good driving practice = no

This whole thread is painful reading. Have you guys heard yourselves? :frowning:

You know what Rob…You’re maybe right  , reading it back I suppose I just fell into the trap of getting wound up by the sort of bellends that ■■■■ me off daily, like when you pull out to courteously let them out and they leave you sat there like a prick :smiling_imp: , you DARE :unamused: to pull out and overtake them and rather than back off 2 CLICKS ffs, they look in their mirror and speed up smiling, a bunch of dicks :unamused: . and if they do let you pass they then pull out to pass you and nearly take your ■■■■ mirrors off. (breathes out  )
In the full realm of things it aint the most crucial thing in the world :unamused: , and I really should chill and take it in my stride …as I used to, who knows… I’ve maybe done this bloody job too long and it’s finally got to me, or maybe it’s an age thing, but I do have a low tolerance threshold to knobheads nowadays  , so if I’ve made a prick of myself by making a mountain/molehill situation…sorry to you all! so cheers for the reality check Rob, next time I go off on one remind me again

i was sat behind some guy on the 62 heading towards the M18 last week went to go round him and was sat trying to over take him for a good 5 miles he wouldnt back down even when i had got 3/4 past him it took me ages to get past then he decides to take the next junction off. what was wrong with him letting me go i was clearly going that little bit quicker but he wouldnt let me go - its not exactly any effort to slow down to let a brother or a sister in for that matter is it - its just basic road manners i slow down just enough to let them pass and get in without becoming a hazard myself - i do believe its called helping each other out eh

Actrosman:
Edit: what would be, given the speed limit of 50 on a DC, the maximum speed you could do, allowing for speedo accuracy and +5%? I sit at 90k (speedo) which is an actual 54mph (gps) and have never had a tug, and neither have those that have passed me, and there’s plenty of Roads Police around the Oxford area at night, on the way back to Abingdon or Bicester…lucky me I guess

Assume you mean legally?? Then 50 is the maximum you can do, that way if someone wants to pass, they can go a bit faster, get past and drop back down to the speed limit once a safe distance past you.

No you have not, the spelling police poster is almost there tho

Don’t mean to drag this tiresome subject on much longer, but…

Why is it always the responsibility of the driver being overtaken to back off and assist the guy who has made the poor overtaking choice? I don’t buy this arguement that truck drivers are purposely speeding up, maybe one or two cretins are but its more likely to do with the fact they are heaver/lighter than you. If your overtaking attempt goes ■■■■ up and its clearly not going to give you any decent advantage, why not knock down a few clicks yourself and tuck back in behind?

It’s amazing how worked up we get in this industry over 1/2mph. Who gives a ■■■■ if you have to do a proportion of your journey at 55 rather than 56… jeez.

I think at the end of the day it comes down to the positioning. If the trucks cab overtaking is towards the rear half of trailer then fair doo’s, they are probably the ones better off backing down and pulling back in but anything level onwards with them clearly struggling then its the job of the truck being overtaking to surrender a bit of speed to help ease the situation.

Not sure if trucks purposely speed up but this thread has posters who openly admit to not backing off. That equates to pretty much the same thing.

+1

I have every truck overtaking me on the road but when it clearly shows that the overtaking vehicle is going to take miles to get past best thing to do is back off a little and let him past and resume speed.

Theres two plus to that,

  1. It don’t hold people up that much and everyone is getting on
  2. Team work on the roads

Get a grip matey…happens 1000’s times a day…and like another op said if my wife rang me with this complaint i would have pulled the call…its all in a day on our mad roads.

It took you 5 miles to get 3/4 off the way past this other driver and you want him to slow down■■?

Just out of interest, did YOU not think im slowly creeping up on this driver IL knock it back a couple off clicks instead.
